I went to see the Mary Anne Redmond Band this past Friday night, and despite being one inch shy of pneumonia, I had a nice time. I don't particularly care for her ballads, but the bluesy stuff really steals the show--and while I think her cover of Hiatt's "Cry Love" and her cover of "Crossroads" could go on forever, some of those slower blues numbers are pretty sweet.
So why is it the premise of one of her slow ballads that has stuck with me for four days? She says lie to me, and I promise I'll believe you ... but just for tonight, or something like that.
Some days I think I could use just that: lie to me--stay all night, tell me I'm beautiful, tell me you love me, will never hurt me, never leave me--and I promise I'll believe it. But just for tonight.
Ever relate?
