The MTV News people ask Anton about Like Crazy and Star Trek here.

It's an unembeddable video with some quotes in text form.
EDIT: Did I say unembeddable? Actually the video is here (under the cut). :3

And what the hell, here's the text, too:

Though the untitled "Star Trek" sequel has been tapped for an alleged summer 2012 release date, there hasn’t been much news on the development front in recent months. When MTV caught up with Anton Yelchin at Sundance while he was promoting his film "Like Crazy," we couldn't resist asking him for a scoop or an update on the film. Unfortunately for us, he knew nothing about the film. And he was very adamant that he knew nothing.

"I know we're going to shoot at some point but I really don’t know anything," Yelchin said. "You know obviously I sent people emails and say, like, 'Happy holidays,' but they're not like, 'PS, when are we making this movie?' No, I have no idea."

But he did have one thing to say for sure: he can't see the sequel not being directed by J.J. Abrams, despite previous rumors otherwise.

"Like I said, I have no idea what's going on or what the plans are for the movie but I think it would be very, very bizarre to do it without him," Yelchin said.

In the first film, Yelchin played the brilliant but young ensign Pavel Chekov, and the role catapulted him from indie to blockbuster fame. Though Yelchin has gone on to star in big films like "Terminator Salvation," "The Smurfs" and "Fright Night," it's clear the from the way he talks about Abrams that he feels like he owes the director a lot.

"I think the reason ['Star Trek'] works is because he's so wonderful and he's such a bright, bright fantastic human being and he just has this amazing energy, and I'm very grateful to him," Yelchin said. "It's each director: ['Like Crazy' director] Drake [Doremus]! Drake crafted this movie, he picked those moments so well. Seeing it on screen, you see that touch of picking the right moments, and J.J.'s like that. He picked the right moments, you know, and I think that's why people liked 'Star Trek.' "
