Aomori: The Apple Master

This is a picture of me with the Apple Master. She runs an orchard up in Aomori Prefecture, and was happy to give me, Brian and Keiko tons of free samples. She told us that she had spent some time in New South Wales, studying their apples there. When asked, she said "Australian apples are small and weak. Japanese apples are the best."

Why am I not surprised?
