On the road, the right hand lane is for people who choose to over take. Drive FASTER in other words. It's not like this rule doesn't apply in other situations either.
For example, on escalators. The left hand side is for people who choose to remain stationary. Where as the right hand side is for people who want to keep walking, that is, move FASTER.
FFS. It annoys me so bad in the mornings when people ignorantly stand on the RHS of an escalator, NOT NOTICING that in front of them is no one but behind them is a whole line of people, just waiting to get through. There is only space to stand on the RHS because people keep moving.
