How I spent my 30th Birthday...

Feb 24, 2012 00:37

When I went to bed last nite continued into when I woke up this morning I was reflecting of past birthdays, how they were spent and what not. I was a bit nostalgic for the emphasis my mom put into birthdays, presents and just communicating how loved I was.

I woke up this morning honestly not giving my husband a lot of credit.
This mornign he proceeded to sing a horrible and painful rendition of happy birthday. He did get Nikki dressed and actually buckled her into my car, to get us out this morning.

I worked, I then went to Jersey. When I sketched out last nite possible options, I think I failed to include that where I'm working is maybe 6 minutes from the base of the bridge I would take into Jersey, while to get to the bridge to Brooklyn is a minimum of 15 minutes, and they're starting to construction on that part of the highway.

My first stop in Jersey was the thrift store in Elizabeth. We're a little obsessed with www.imunique.com thrift stores, they have 50% on federal holidays, every monday is 25% off and every thursday is 25% off with their 'card.' Like a supermarket/cvs card. Supposedly they send out emails.

I spent 75 cents on parking, and even asked the meter maid. Is it a meter maid if it's a guy?  Which side of my dashboard should the ticket be on. Apparently in NYC and parts of NJ they've gone from having individual parking meters, to either having a machine for a stretch of block or in this case, it's the machine but you plug in your space number even thought it's street parking. I think the meter maid thought I was a nut. But honestly, if I were to receive a ticket because it wasn't clearly displayed, I'd be pissed.

At this thrift store I spent $6.16
I bought Nechama a brand new with tags purple velvet Oshkosh dress, where the sleeves have almost that t-shirt thing with stars.
A gigantic bag of http://www.infinitoy.com/zoob/index.shtml.
And another Mr potato head with a bunch of accessories.

I then went to go get food. I probably spent about a dollar in the meter here. But realize the pizza store is on one side of the street. Across the street is the kosher chinese place and then two doors down is the kosher supermarket(had I been thinking I could have parked in the supermarkets back lot, which I dislike because it's one lane coming and it's behind the building).
I had a yummy Vanilla coke and a slice of pizza with tomatos, spinach and ricotta cheese.

The chinese place has a lunch special for $5.99, it went up. lol It's an item from the lunch menu with crappy fried rice. But for that price for kosher meat it's ridiculous. I bought 3 meals for dinner tonite. and got a fourth for the babysitter. So I wrote a check for like $25.
I think I spent between $12 and $15 at the grocer and that includes meat and challah. That I did charge.

I then went to target, which was a bust.

I then went to another thrift store.I spent like $12.40 or so here. I got Nikki a Kidadorable Ladybug raincoat. I got her a twin fitted and flat sheet of Mickey and friends (I'm the variety that I WOULD NEVER buy bedding from a thrift store, but sheets are expensive). So iyh when we set up the twin she has 'special' sheets.
I bought the babysitter two toys.
 and

I also bought for work
.

I then hit a Christmas Tree Shop for my babysitter, we have found they have the best value for the dog pee pads. I spent about $20 there on my debit card. For other treasures. BTW Christmas Tree Shop has their containers of bubbles in like the big ones.

I got home picked up Nechama, find out the babysitters dog consumed her pacfier. oops

Mike came home after 8. He came home with a little ice cream cake from carvel and he had them put my name on it. I didn't get pics. He then tried to find the number candles. He only managed to find the 3. Nechama attempted to take the lil cake thinking it was all hers. Of course little Miss who cried for cake and blew out the candle then wouldn't eat it.

He has a birthday present for me, but he needs to wrap it. Then he was so excited that he won additonal presents/ auctions on the goodwill site. Told me how much they cost, but wouldn't give me his password/account info so I could look at them myself.
