I'm a creature of habit, especially when it comes to food and brands. I know what is kosher and tend towards those it also makes it a hell of a lot easier if I ever need to ask Mike to go to the store and pick stuff up. I hate that I make him out to be an incompetent oaf, he's not he's just not as thorough as I am.
Any how, today we did our pre-shavous shopping at Costco and the supermarket, I'm debating going into Brooklyn after work tommorrow. I'm 'supposed' to be gettting someone to come out and give an estimate on my tenants fridge(can you tell how enthused I am on that one?)
Anyhow, as a creature of habit, I was completely confused by the new packaging of the Barilla pasta sauce
GRR Barilla won't allow me to copy their images from their website.
Anyhow, what I noticed is not all of the flavors that were kosher are stil kosher. for example their mushroom sauce no longer has a hecshur. They also now have 'fancy' or as I see them annoying names for the different flavors.
Personally, this means they may no longer be my 'go to' sauce. In the past few months I discovered that their is a flavor or two of Francesco Rinaldi that is kosher.
I've like Barilla, knowing that it was kosher as well as it was flavorful with pieces of vegetables, garlic, mushrooms or olives. But now I'm not as committed and it doens't help when I searched their site and FAQS for 'kosher' nothing came up.
I'm not boycotting their brand, but I am more likely to explore other options first. It also doesn't hurt that the Francesco Rinaldi is cheaper per jar as well.
I'm putting this out there more so in terms of being aware, as far as I can tell in my searches this hasn't come up in any 'kashrut alerts' so idk if the formula changed or if it was left off the label.
