(no subject)
Can't sleep, screwing around the computer out of boredom.
Had a good shabbos, Nechama and I were in the backyard by 9am, she was trying to eat dirt. I was trying not to fall asleep.
Typing on my computer is annoying the crap out of me. Erev shabbos when I was cooking Nechama pulled herself up on teh couch and proceeded to pull off of my laptop the: escape key, a squiggle the key before the one, tab, shift, control, F9, F10, 8, and 9.
Admittedly the laptop is two years old. but it is still annoying as can be. When it happened I was PISSED and she wound up crying because I was reprimanded and told her 'time out' somehow my expressing displeasure and the raised voice, intimating time out is enough to make her cry. And it demonstrates she's aware she did something she's not supposed to.
Then again over shabbos, I don't recall what happened, but she did raise a finger at me and go 'no, no' and proceeded to potch my thigh. Which was beyond adorable.
So Mike says it's not Nechama's fault about the computer, it's mine. And that pisses me off even more. As she perceived she was allowed to touch the computer and it was a 'toy' because of the messages he gives her. Where as had he reinforced my position she might not have done it so destructively, and rahter just banged on teh keys.
But he turned around tonite and was like 'well do you expect a new computer' well yes I would love one. However, my plan is for us to get a sturdy, industrious work desktop for the back bedroom so we have a 'work computer' basically I'm not thrilled keeping files on a computer that Nechama can single handedly destroy. Additionally, long term I might be better off getting a netbook. I also will need to get my eyes checked and new glasses to see the dam thing. I was thinking if I invest in a netbook, I can use it in my car for paperwork. I don't mean necessarily sit in my car, but have the access to type things up, without shlepping a huge frigging thing. and they're small enough I could keep it in a nondescript bag in my car.
