i can't even begin to say how amazing jet was. the whole night was so powerful, too bad so many people couldn't make it. you really missed a great experience.

first, we were sort of in the middle of the norva, right in the center. but bryce and i had a plan to get right up to the front, close enough to smell the sweat. everyone was chicken and thought that people would get mad if we went in front of them, but i figured, "hey, we'll never see these people again, i don't care." so i started getting us over to the side, so we could find a path to the front. as we were standing there, taking pictures of the first opening band (the everybody's), two men walked by, maybe in their 40's. one stopped, looked at me and said "well, your adorable! how old are you?" and looked at my hand for the "under 21" x's. and said "aw", snapped his fingers, and walked away. we got hit on by quite a few pedophiles, but that really wasn't the purpose of the show, so we carefully ignored it and had a good time.
we got close to the front by the time the second opening band came on (sloan), there were maybe about seven people in front of us. but we were determined to get all the way to the front by the time jet came on. at this point, it was only me and bryce, we had lost the others. but i wasn't turning back. we pushed and pushed, closer and closer, and finally, we only had one person in front of us. by now we're soaked in beer and sweat, and there is a cloud of smoke lingering all over, so nothing can stop us. we've gotten this far. so i asked the girl in front of me if she would take some pictures for me and she said, "oh, no, no! here, you get in front!"
so i was right in front of the lead singer, man, it was amazing! i got some awesome pictures, but that can't even begin to express the power that was in that room - the vibrations throught your body, the smell, everything. it was amazing. i even go sprayed with his water.
you know waht was truely amazing, though? the fact that they came on stage like it was no big deal. each of them walked on, holding a drink, smoking. and the guitarist and bassist were so laid back that they'd smoke as they played. each had their own styel to this, though. the guitarist would have someone light it and put it in his mouth, and it would remain there until it was done, then he'd spit it out. the bassist would light his, smoke, then place it between his fingers until he got a break. i love how laid back this whole show was, how laid back they were.
you should have been there. it was outstanding. at times it seemed i looked right into their eyes, and they stared straight back - as if they could feel how proud i was of their accomplishments. what a lovely night.
afterwards, we drove around for near an hour and a half, getting everyone home and just listening to music, remembering the wonderful night. i wish you could have been there.
