Earlier in the year I had the front retaining wall rebuilt. This gave me some extra space in the front yard. With my mother's help, I managed to "gopher-proof" and landscape the front slope. I went with all California native plants, which will really help with the water conditions here. It will take another year or two to grow in, but I am pretty happy with the results thus far. The actual front yard will be the area of focus for 2011.
The BIG house project this year has been the kitchen remodel. It all started with my wall oven breaking sometime in September. I had just had it and decided it was time to start from the ground up and re-do everything. To date, I have gutted most of the kitchen. Progress is slow as I can only work for two hours at a time due to the limitations of my back. Sadly, I am without a kitchen this holiday season which is limiting my ability to bake the loads of cookies I usually make. I do have a beautiful retro stove on hold just waiting to come home once I get the electrical and plumbing problems worked out and the drywall re-hung. Hopefully, next year I will have pictures of the end result to show everyone.
