I'm sorry to have missed yesterday! Working two jobs has really been hard to acclimate to. I ended up passing out far too early last night - but I definitely needed it! Hopefully I can catch up on some sleep and be clear-headed enough to do some actual writing this weekend.
So for yesterday's post, I had planned to share
Poets & Writers' Writing Contests, Awards, & Grants calendar for those of you who might not know about it. I LOVE this resource! I get the upcoming ones in the print copy of their magazine, but you can also search for specific stuff online and look way further ahead. Which is especially good if you're like me and not quite ready to submit stuff now but are trying to set concrete short- and long-term goals. It's a really great site if you're serious about publication.
And, on time this week(!), let me also tackle This Week in Poetry:
A 13 yr old's interview about her poetry book. - She's inspiring me to get off my butt and do it!
Kill the Teacher, Spare the Poet: A Conversation with John Hennessey - I liked this interview. I love seeing how other writers work, and I also really enjoyed one of the poems he shared here.
(Unsigned) Jim Morrison Handwritten Poetry Verse goes up for auction next month.
Hm, not a whole lot. I may have missed some good articles, so further apologies if I did. I just didn't have the brainpower/clarity to read through all of them this time, and like half of the stuff was all about James Franco, who apparently fancies himself a poet now. I know I covered Kristen Stewart last week, but I firmly believe Franco to be the World's Most Insufferable Douchebag, so I couldn't stomach all of his poetry stuff out there this week or bring myself to give him links.
A lot of stuff was also talking about National Poetry Month, which is coming up in April. Is anyone here wanting to participate or do anything special with our group? I'm going to try to do the
Writers Digest Poetry-A-Day (PAD) Challenge if they do that again this year. I tried juggling that with Camp NaNoWriMo last year and only got about ten days in, so I figured I'd put the full focus on poetry and see if I can actually keep up with it all month this time. If you guys wants to do anything together, that would be awesome! Let me know.
