the everlasting now

Nov 22, 2007 23:24

while drying my hair after a bath,
i was thinking how precious time is.
i thought, i will save time
by starting to write this prayer i my mind.
while writing this prayer in my mind,
i was not really present to drying my hair,
and ironicly wasted that moment
(of feeling the texture of my hair,
the touch of my fingers on my head,
the moisture in the fluff of my towel)
rushing to get to a moment that "mattered"
and now in this moment that matters
i'm wanting to return to the one i left.

my friend said he met a man who
was a monk for 20 years.
'20 years, you must have learned so much!"
the monk said, 'i only learned three words.'
'let go now.'

prayer, irony, release, time, presence, re-sentiment
