Welp, my parents were visiting for a week and I survived.
It was the single most roller coaster week EVER.
Week leading up to last Friday:
All oncall staff are called off do to lack of work. They hired five new guys to cover work that didn't exist so the oncall staff essentially became unemployed. I became the sole money maker of our family and was in charge of training the five new guys. Yipee.
I applied for a full time position in the company under the same boss. I worked late every night for like two or three weeks straight.
Cat was sick.
Friday:
Worked later than intended and forgot the apartment office closed early on Fridays. Couldn't get the keys to the guest suite. Panic and stress over where parents will stay for the night. Am late leaving to the airport to pick them up. Very tired.
Pick up parents, Jacki puts them up for a night and gives them her bed and apartment while she stays with us.
Late night near hysterical melt down that's been a long time coming. Go back to bed.
Saturday:
Go to down town Seattle, Pike's Market. Lots of walking. Had fun at the Aquarium and got to watch Noa feed the octopus. :)
Sunday:
Cat is sick. She needs a vet. Can't afford a vet. Yipee.
Went to museum of flight and rediscovered my love of history.
Monday:
Trip to vet. Jacki's friend, Sandy, offers to pay for the vet visit. Mom goes with us and covers it. Find out the cat needs surgery very urgently. Very expensive surgery. Sandy offers to foster and pay for the surgery.
Biology fail happens and reminds me why my body hates me.
Tuesday:
Seattle underground tours. Lots of walking. Diet is officially ruined and probably have gained back at least half of what I lost. Ugh.
Job interview. Discover that I'm not the only one applying and I have a 50/50 shot. Hmm...
Wednesday:
Duck Tours down town Seattle. Remember what it's like to live with parents and constant bickering and repeating self a million times. Pronoun trouble very annoying. Tour was fun though.
Thursday:
Science Fiction museum. Remember my love for science fiction and desperately need to watch something with some semblance of science in it. Mmm fiction. Apparent drama happening all over. Yay.
Friday:
Cat goes in for surgery. Turns out it wasn't as bad as we thought. Doesn't need surgery but a very simple procedure. Good news! Also found out that I got the job!
Take it easy and we go out to eat to celebrate.
Saturday:
Parents go home Saturday morning. Plan to drop them off then go back to bed and sleep forever.
Sunday:
Go back to airport and pick up Sophie.
Long story short:
I NOW HAVE A FULL TIME JOB. WITH BENEFITS AND PTO AND HOLIDAY PAY.
My new job starts on July 1st. That means that I get holiday pay for fourth of July! (We get the fifth off!) With a slight pay increase.
