Currently I have Sprint fair and flexible plan. I pay $70 a month. Considering that I make on average ONE phone call every other month with this phone, never use Textmessages or anything else... That's too much

My friend bought a Virgin mobile once, I think it was, and to use it she bought minutes as she went along. So maybe look into something like that? Fair warning, though: there were points where she got the feeling that more minutes were being taken away than she was actually using. It might've been that more minutes were eaten up if she was calling long distance or something. I'm not sure, since this was years ago.
Wish I could be of help but I'm on my parents plan and we get a company discount... our plan is also Sprint and dad's called in and had them cancel all txt services (we don't use it and incoming used to charge us up the ass). I rarely call out too... maybe it's 'cause of the discount that it isn't that high.
...though it kinda puts things in perspective I guess. I was considering getting the new google phone (the t-mobile G1) and it would cost me around 75 bucks a month for 600 minutes, free nights after 9pm and free weekends, and unlimited text/internet. Perhaps it's not too bad a deal... the big one is buying the phone itself though >.>
Have you tried a pay-as-you-go phone that you charge with a card? I have a couple friends who have those and they seen fine with them on their meager salaries.
Well, I think I originally had a pay as you go and for some reason sprint just kinda crept up on me and went BAM D<.
Though one of my friends who works in wireless sales worked out a good deal for me. Because Washington is tree happy, the only place where you can really find service of any kind is Seattle area. Which is fine by me. She suggested the T-Mobile deal for me too. Same plan you're looking at actually I believe (or the 300 minutes one, if it's offered. I forget the number). It looks like a way better deal than I have with Sprint right now, as half the time I can't even get a damn signal... -_-.
She also suggested a phone by Samsun as they are built solid for the inner klutz in me.
Either way, my Sprint contract is up in Dec and I will be happy to dispose of it. (Plus, with Tmobile, I can keep my old Cell phone #!)
Mine's a oldschool samsung (discontinued a bit after I got it) and the thing has faced being thrown at walls full force and hit by cars and other than looking weathered the screen isn't busted and it still works like the day I got it. I think the 300 minute one is less... I opted for the 600 since the 300 didn't come with nights or weekends if I remember it right. But then I was looking at the special boeing pricing page so maybe non-boeing people get different discounts? Either way, after the holidays I'll probably end up getting the G1 too...if they don't lay us off :B

So there's my vague suggestion.
