I know, it seems like all I do is ask for help these days. :| And not even simming help! But a file won't get off my desktop and I'm desperate. It's a minor thing, but it's bugging the crap out of me.
Edit: I found a way to fix it, using the unlocker. Many thanks to Nymphy and everyone else who helped me out!!!! Thanks you guys. :)

I was about to say this.

I sometimes have problems with files like that, where they will actually have been deleted the first time but look like they are still in the same loacation. So I keep trying to delete them and it gives me that exact dialgoue as you got: "this is windoze 7 and I can't find the durned thing, are you sure it's where you think it is?".

ha! Yep. That's what it's doing, but shutting it down should fix it, shouldn't it? Or is a restart totally different.

Well you didn't mention it has persisted over the course of more than one day, so I didn't assume you'd tried that.

Have you changed the file extension? Have you tried moving it from the desktop to a folder? Have you tried viewing the properties to see if it is a temp file and therefore linked to another file?

haha I'm terrible at mentioning important details, obviously. But you were supposed to read my mind, Kayleigh! Didn't you know? :D

In any case, I found a way to delete it use Unlocker. I will keep your suggestions in mind for the future (but it wasn't a temp file and I couldn't change the extension because it supposedly didn't exist). Thanks so much for your help. :)
