06 [Gloriously accidental and public video!]

[It's hard to tell what's going on, at first, much less whose communicator this is. The screen is propped up against something on its side, presenting a distorted but still shot of a sink, in what looks like the science lab. Jesse, wearing thick rubber gloves, half-hidden by a gas mask, is scrubbing out a collection of vats and beakers. He's ( Read more... )

Are you in the lab? [Crane does not sound amused.]

Yeah. So? I work here.

And what warden is supporting that so called science you're doing?

Uh, not that it's really your business, but Mr. Narvin said I could try out the chemistry gear while he's laid up.

Of course he did. Just for the record, what you're doing is potentially dangerous. Those are real chemicals in there. I recommend that you leave them alone.

[A long pause, an unreadable sea of emotions flickering across Jesse's face. He looks pissed, but all he says is:] Yeah, well, I'm cleaning up now, so.

Good. Find somewhere else to play. [Ah, Crane. Operating under the assumption that Jesse couldn't possibly have the skills to do anything untoward with chemicals.]

[Again, he looks like he wants to say something very different, but...]

Yes, sir. [Where "sir" sounds exactly, somehow, like "you fucking asshole."]

Good. Leave the science to people who actually know what they're doing.

[aslkfj--] Maybe you can teach me, sometime. [He turns the screen back towards the wall, leaving the audio on. The stupid thing won't seem to turn off, anyway.]

I really don't care enough to teach you. If you ask Capa, he could show you some basic physics.

Mr. Narvin's got physics covered, yo. [Not that Jesse's actually learning anything, there. Counterargument: not that he actually wants to. He turns the sink pointedly back on and makes some vague dish-rattling sounds.]

I'm sure he has. Just stick to the theory and washing dishes, if you would.

yeahscience October 7 2011, 10:26:01 UTC
Yup, that's the plan. [Because he's definitely washing dishes right now, and not pouring out a sheet of crystal methamphetamine. On the bright side, keeping his eyes on the prize makes it easier to act like a subservient jackass.]

[And Crane is happy with this conclusion, and clicks his journal off. Oh ho, underestimating people.]
