Totally off-topic post:

I've gotten tired of all the fic-finding requests spread out across other communities and even more so the yammering about the horror of it all so I whipped up mcrficfinder. (hell yeah, totally ripping on an old idea, rock on) I suspect I'll be the least attentive community maintainer ever so if anyone has a burning desire to mod a community, let me know. That's a neat idea! If you really need someone to help with moderating duties, I have loads of free time until I find a real job and I spend most of the time glued to the computer, so I think I could do it, if you want.

I think it should be pimped over at the Hellpit mychemicalslash at least, if the newly-active mods will allow it.

The Hellpit, I like that. *grin*

I suspect that there won't really be all that much to do but I occasionally have short stretches of 'oh god, no more lj' and stick my head in the sand for a few days. I suspect that having someone else available in case of random issue might be a good idea. I'll go check some box somewhere and get you squared away.

So was that a victimvolunteer for a pimping post at The Hellpit? *grin*

Well, 90% of the time it's a fitting description of that community, really. :)

Great! I think it will give me far less problems than the other community I mod, or at least I hope so. (Nothing can be worse than having to deal with fiction writers on ego overload, trust me)

...that would require me to join The Hellpit! I had successfully avoided to do that until now, but I think I can survive that. *g*

I just got the email from LJ telling me that I'm a maintainer now...just a question: do you want to leave the comm with unmoderated posting?

Yup, because I believe in ruling with an iron fist. You post something inappropriate, it gets deleted. You do it again, you get the boot. I mean that 'repeat offender' in the userinfo in a very non-loose way. *grin*

(Un-moderated posting, yes. Perhaps because I hate waiting around for a post to be approved even more than having to wait for an answer, I'm all for instant gratification)

You are a total peach, I was dreading writing that post. Thank you.

Iron-fist moderating is pretty much the only way to keep an open membership community in some kind of order, so I can completely agree with that. It also removes the necessity of moderated posting, which is a bother, yes.

Don't worry, it's not a problem and I am going to copy-and-paste from what you wrote in the userinfo anyway. (Just to make sure that I don't get anything wrong, of course. *g*) I checked in The Hellpit's userinfo and fic-related community pimping is allowed, so I don't think there should be any problems with it.

Excellent. If you think of anything else that should be said or re-phrased or changed to suit your whims, just let me know. *grin* I'm mostly for getting it set up and letting it go, I don't have much opinion on details.

(except of course where I get unreasonably demanding and insist on things my way, heh.)

I am basically posting what you wrote in the userinfo (I love how you wrote it, and didn't see the need to change anything), if that's ok with you. I just added a little comment of my own at the end...

Feel free to join and start asking! We won't bite, we promise...unless you ask us very nicely to. :)

And now, let the wait for the moderation queue begin!
*passes popcorn around*

Gah, time zones. That should be 11pm to midnight, my time (GMT+1), right?
I don't know if they can make it so soon...give them a couple more hours at least. I know restriction had to wait some 8 hours once.

What do I win if I'm right? *g*

If I can just get megaupload to stop being such a little bitch, they'll be ready. The audio is terrible except for brief moments, but the video is fun in the crazy-completist-I-must-have-everything sort of way. A couple of moments might make for decent animated icons if one was into such things.

Ah, MegaUpload, aka The Suckiest Suck That Ever Sucked. I hate it, but I the fact that the links don't run out as fast as the YSI ones do has its advantages, sadly...

Yay for the video, anyway!

Rule #19098234 says that you should put all promotional posts under a cut, which I had not done the first time. But I sent the correct post as soon as I got the rejection email, and apparently was able to catch the mod in time, because it was approved shortly after that.

I saw that! Some of those are scary. Methinks we need a recs community now! :D
