As I was getting into bed last night I heard something which sounded like a very small screw fall onto the floor. "Oh," I thought, "there's that screw that I lost when I was fixing the clock."

I had of course known at the time that it was probably a bad idea to use the bed as a clock-fixing surface. But did I listen? No.

But - get this - it wasn't the same screw. It was a different screw, almost entirely the same shape and size, but a bit different.

So what I want to know is, where the fuck did it come from?
