happy un-birthday to me...

beware!! this post is actually long!

so today was a pretty fun day.

first let me tell you the story of how i came to be wearing my science project.

you see, our project was pretty dumb. we added vitamin C to lettuce that wasn't actually real lettuce to see what would happen. mind you we justified this with research and larger global issues like world hunger. just so you know, vitamin C is not good for not-quite-lettuce. it stunts its growth immensely. oh well. so anyway, we had to put our lettuce in the oven and measure the dry weight. when they were dry the plants were so cute. in the fires they had curled around each other like comrades in battle or women in a burning church...

uh...yeah. it also reminded me of arizona. so anyway, this made it kind of hard to separate them but that was okay. so as we were measuring them i announced that i was going to crush them all and scatter them to the winds. my group members apparently didn't believe me because they threw everything away. but that did not stop me from grabbing a handful of the experiemental group (poor little runts)and crushing and scattering them anyway. it was meant to be poetic. the underdog finally gets to fly. and stuff. but when i released the bits i discovered i was facing the wrong way and they all blew back in my face. it was quite anticlimatic. i think there are still some pieces in my hair. and considering how infrequently i shower they may remain there for quite a while. oh well.

so the second thing is what made today not such a bad day. actually, if my french essay turns out okay and is done by at least two or three hours from now, it might end up being a good day.

Today at about 7pm I went with fun people to Coldstone to buy an ice cream cake to celebrate my half-birthday because my real birthday isn't during the schoolyear and because i wanted to eat ice cream cake outside in November. It was really fun. And delicious, EVEN IF Coldstone was dumb and didn't have raspberry cake in a small size. Chocolate chocolate chocolate (at least that's my name for it) was still pretty good. I was glad i brought a knife to cut it with or we would have been forced to go back to the dorm first and it just wouldn't have been the same. But i wasn't able to bring silverware so it was even more cold than i'd planned b/c our fingers were frozen.

oh yeah. i also definately wore my ridiculous pink/flowered hat someone gave me one and a half years ago for my 16th birthday while doing this.

i am so full of cake. but that's okay. i just hope i don't come down off the sugar high before my essay is done. but that, i think, is a futile hope. oh well.

school, culinary exploits, humor
