like a garage sale but there is no garage

Hey anyone who isn't me and who reads my journal ever maybe:

Skot is trying to get rid of what few possessions he has. Prices are .50 to 2.00, depending on how much of a say you want in what you get. The website is here: http://swag.mercentown.org/

For anyone's potential enjoyment, there is also the email I received about it:

No, seriously. No joke here. I'm selling things at incredibly low prices.

Once in high school I gave out plastic spoons as Christmas gifts. That was amusing and whimsical for everyone involved. but could have been better. Another year, I stalked the halls with a briefcase full of quince jam, bestowing it upon anyone I felt needed an injection of levity into an otherwise predictable holiday season. Again, very amusing. Still, it could have been better.

The next year, I scooped all my knick-knacks, doodads, and other assorted folderol into a duffel bag and distributed them to anyone I met. It was delicious. Nobody knew what they were getting or why, and that was the best part.

To bring back that excitement, entertainment, and whimsy, and to get rid of my stuff before I move to the other side of the country, I've made a website. Follow this link or head to http://swag.mercentown.org to check it out. Basically: you can buy anything of mine, but I get to pick what it is, for fifty cents. For a dollar, you can choose whether or not you get a book. For two dollars, you can just come over and pick something out.

There are dozens of books on scores of topics sitting on my bookshelf, and everything from bicycle horns to jars of post-it note glue to Canadian lacrosse balls sitting in my apartment. Buy things one at a time as the mood strikes, or buy a ten-item grab bag for $5! Buy random swag for friends and family (and if you're after a giggle, don't tell them it's coming)! Help me pare down my possessions and spread pleasant unpredictability throughout the world.

And pass on this e-mail to anyone you think might be interested. Even people who probably aren't interested! The more people hear about this, the better it is for all of us.

Skot

Children-havers? Crafts-people? Collectors of any kind? This thing is for you.
