so much of uninterest!

Before i begin: news! My story about Dan and Jarrod (the homosexual crush one) is going to be submitted to and optimally published in Inklings, because the submissions guy who was in my writing class wanted to look at it and is now submitting it for me. Neat. My experience with working for lit mags makes me wonder if they are low on submissions and that is his real motive, but time may tell. I might just be that awesome.

I've been reading manga a LOT this break. today was volume 5 of tsubasa and 5&6 of xxxholic, which is as far as i could get in the bookstore without skipping something, as well as volumes 4-7 of Hayate the Combat Butler, which I've been meaning to catch up on for at least a year. Totally forgot he fought a robot and a tiger until it reminded me. I've never read a hard copy of that manga to this day, which is kind of weird. I like the real thing over computers when i can get it. oh well. Also read as much as i could of saiyuki gaiden recently, which wasn't much or even in the right order, and i only found text for the whole first volume, but oh well. x/1999 didn't seem to be available at the bookstore at all, and that's not something i want to read off my computer without being able to flip through some early volumes first because i forgot most of what happened, so i didn't manage to continue that. I seem to have lost interest in The Sandman and am stuck at volume 9. I've already somehow read 11 though (I bought it a bit ago thinking it would be a good sampling and now it's probably in a box somewhere), so...only two left, right?

I'm also casually watching ljsecret or whatever it's called for no good reason. It's depressing how few genuinely interesting or funny things there are. Everyone is so sad. So i don't know what's up with me reading that stuff.

Also watched 6 episodes of Fruits Basket and the rest of Ouran Host Club (wtf, the ending. wtf), which i downloaded because i finally gave up on broken azeurus and got something smaller and more functional.

I've about five logs away from catching up with Mercy Street. I finally gave in and just skimmed a few logs that i didn't really care about, which is an improvement over Must Read Everything Completely, but not much, because I care about almost all of the logs to some extent. Also, yay, I'm caught up on tags and have been basically all break. We expect this to end soon, namely: when school begins.

I've also been trying to get through the Cryptonomicon, but that's 910 pages long and not at all as interesting as Snow Crash (that book is sooo goood!). 125 pages-so-far feels like nothing and forever at once, so I expect to be done by... july. maybe.

I bought Good Omens just to have it. I've already read it, so we'll see if this was stupid later, when I do or do not read it again in the future.

Also I saw Juno and Sweeney Todd recently. The former was cute for the first half and full of snark but regrettably ungood(sappy) for the last bit. The latter was alright for a movie-musical, and cannibalism and murder and the lady from Fight Club and johnny depp made up for the points lost by Tim Burton's heavy white-face influence and a predictable twist and the deaths of my favorite characters and the dumb characters living through it.

I guess I'm going to the Crawlathon 2008 in a couple weeks? We totally forgot to wonder if we were working that weekend while we were navigating the list of full and almost full caving expeditions and worrying about equipment and funds and fun, so we're really hoping the first weekend is a sign-up one due to the holiday and thus that we are NOT scheduled for 8-12 on the 26th, because we're not taking that registration form and unrefundable check out of the mailbox even though we thought about it before tomorrow when it would have been too late. I don't know why I started referring to myself in the plural, but oh well. That sentence is too long to edit.

I had another fucked up dream last night, but I don't remember it any more. If I do, it's getting its own entry, because this one's gone on long enough.
