So on Saturday night while I was working at Crumb Brothers (I was there for one of the folk concerts, all I had to do was make coffee, move around tables, and enjoy the show and get paid for it), Reid sent me a text message saying that he was sad. When I asked why, he said that his girlfriend had broken up with him and already had a new man. So I told him we should go on a road trip to Venice Beach California to visit our cousin Coby. So we did. The next day. We left on Sunday evening after I went to church and got back Thursday morning at 5:10 am, just in time for me to take a quick shower and go to work at 6. I told my boss that I was dedicated I drove 14 hours just to get to work that morning. :)

Anyway, the road trip rocked. It was seriously the most important thing I've done all summer.

Sunday: Reid drove up to Logan (in his ex-girlfriend's car! although he asked her if he could use it first) and we hit the road at about 6:30. Got a hotel in Mesquite.

Monday: Made it to LA at about 4:30, met Coby at her house, went to the beach and watched the ocean, went to dinner with Coby's family at a mexican restaurant at the end of the Santa Monica pier, rode the ferris wheel, went back to Coby's, had a dance party, and watched Star Wars Robot Chicken

Tuesday: Slept in, wandered around the boardwalk, tried to sell earrings and dreamcatchers, ate the greasiest corndog I've ever had in my life, had a barbeque with all of our family that lives in LA (my uncle Richard, cousin Richard, and their families). Eric cooked fresh clams and albacore with lemons and onions and it was amazing. Sometime in my life I had decided that I didn't really like seafood all that much. I had just never had Eric's cooking.

Wednesday: Went to the beach for one last look at the ocean, jumped in with all my clothes on (I couldn't help it, the water was sooo nice), went to my uncle Richard's townhouse and picked up some beautiful pieces of pottery that my aunt made to bring home to my mom, went to a delicious Italian restaurant for lunch, said goodbye to Coby, and hit the road once again.
