"The secret of steel has always carried with it a mystery. You must learn it's riddle Conan, you must learn it's discipline. For on-one in this world can you trust - not men, not women, not beasts. But this (Points to sword), this you can trust..."
As you may have guesse: my sword group is looking for new recruits! We do a mix of European and Japanese sword, 13th to 15th century, predominately bastard sword or katana, but there was talk of some sword and shield and axe and shield at some point soon. (I'm one of the few bastard sword folks there.) We're newbie friendly - first lesson's free. $40 per month after that.
We train out at Waterloo Park near Macquarie Uni, Friday nights 7pm to 8:30pm. If you aren't sure how to get there I can meet you at Macquarie Center and can show you the way. (I get the 545 bus from outside work to Mac Center then walk up - takes about 10-20 minutes.)
On that topic: my instructor knows a guy who's doing his thesis on the differences between LARP'ing and online gaming. Anyone out there know of any local LARP websites? The only ones I know of are the Aus Cam (
www.camarilla.com.au) and the Adventurer's Guild (
http://www.adventurersguild.com.au/) who've had no updates for months. My instructor should be getting some more info about it, so I may have some more questions for folks.
As I've mentioned previously - we should be finding out soon about a land deal out at Windsor. LARP'ing areas, horseriding (The place comes with 6 horses), archery range, possibly a forge and all mannder of stuff. Anyone interested in setting something up there or who has questions let me know - I'll convey interest.
So, yeah. Anyone keen?
