I have a class with Finucane this semester. (Women in World Religions, namely Eastern religions) Far as I know, she's in the process of writing her dissertation at SU right now. About the only other personal thing I know about her is that she's part Japanese on her mom's side. I've found her easy to talk to and helpful. She's still connected to student life so I think it makes it easier for her to relate to us. I think she would be good when it comes to facilitating you in thinking critically and looking at different angles/perspectives when writing. In class, she's open to a lot of different ideas and for the final gave us flexibility to do a project if we wanted. From my experience, she's quite knowledgeable--good at interconnecting social and other factors with religion. She seems to have a good grasp of Non-western religions. I guess I can't say about Western as I'm not in her 100 class. Some days I find her a little over-intellectual but other than that I don't really have many complaints.
My two cents about Purdy is that she could be good or bad depending on how you mesh with her. I remember you mentioning how you didn't care for the way she infiltrated her ideas into our logic class... The impression I've gotten of her is that she does have very strong ideas and I'm not sure how much she budges on them. When I had to do an incomplete last semester she was great about it. So,I'd have to say that I like her but could see where someone could run into issues with her.
I have no idea about Gaither. Ditto everyone else concerning what I've heard about Olson but I can't say from first-hand basis.
