response to my concern

i think actually it is ok - the part where we see how the boundary is enacted is in the irvine's chapter, which is about process, after all.

i just registered for the rackham pre-defense meeting on june 23, 2pm. i'm supposed to bring a full copy of the diss with me. 90 minutes. blah blah.

i need to come up with a title! i realized that 'war stories' doesn't make a lot of sense anymore, since that isn't really what the diss is about.

let's work on it (what else is there to do at 1am!? sleep?!).

protect and prepare.
negotiating the boundary

protecting and preparing: peace activist mothers negotiate the boundary... um what boundary. circular title. not clear what it's about

a fine line: peace activist mothers negotiate the boundary between protecting their children from the world and preparing them for it

a delicate boundary: ... TOO PRISSY

the flag is confusing: NO THAT ISN'T WHAT IT'S ABOUT

parenting in a time of war: peace activist mothers negotiate the boundary between protecting and preparing their children
(not horrid)

parenting in an uncertain world: peace activist mothers negotiate protecting and preparing their children in a time of war
OR
parenting in an uncertain world: peace activist mothers negotiate protecting and preparing their children in the context of the war on terror (or the war in Iraq, which is more accurate to my questions but not necessarily to what i learned, and doesn't sound as punchy)

parenting and the war on terror: how peace activist mothers negotiate the boundary between protecting their children from the world and preparing them for it
(not horrid either!)

Protecting/preparing: parenting and the war on terror
OR
Protecting and preparing: activist parenting and the war on terror/war in Iraq

hmm, i'm getting somewhere.
