Writer's Block: Humans and Cylons

For me, as long as the robot understands and uses altruistic ideals is the moment it is truly sentient. Knowing the difference and choosing one based on what you know, to me, isn't actually a real sentience, but it's hard to properly gauge what IS sentient, especially with robots nowadays. For now, I'll say that we have a little while before robots can truly be treated as its own "being," but I don't honestly think that that'll be far off in the horizon. I also hope that someday the government will give the robot rights, as well, once they're officially classified as true thinking machines.
