I'm resposting this video because I feel it is a highly important issue. I read a statistic the other day that said only 5% of the women who are raped actually report it to the police. It's a sad and horrific topic, but nonetheless a reality. Help yourself and others become more aware.

I'm sure everyone here has seen and loved Olivia Benson kick ass on SVU - the actress, Mariska Hargitay, created this foundation back in 2004. I realize that this video is quite long (about 22 minutes), but this is an issue that is not discussed enough. Whenever I bring up the JHF, I always add in the fact that every two minutes, someone is sexually abused.
I highly suggest you watch this video, even if you only watch a few minutes. It is quite inspirational if you are affected by it, and educational if you do not know much about the foundation and sexual abuse. Most of all, spread awareness by reposting it on your lj.
