Day 23 - Most annoying character: I've thought long and hard about this, and out of all the shows I've seen, I honestly think that I don't have one.

There have been characters who have annoyed me to no end, but there was always something redeeming about them, so that I ended up liking them, sort of. I'm not sure there's ever been a character who just annoyed me, and never did something that bettered them in my eyes. The first character I thought might fit in here was Diana Fowley, from The X-Files. I cannot tell you how much I disliked and hated her when she came on the show. Ohhh, it was extreme hatred from the start! And it got so bad that I kind of started disliking Mimi Rogers, which was sooo wrong of me. Now I know, obviously, but back then that's how much I hated the character. But, in the end, she redeemed herself to me by sacrificing her life to save that of Mulder's in "The Sixth Extinction II: Amor Fati." I don't know why she betrayed Mulder the way she did, not just in that episode but almost throughout her entire time in the series, but the fact that she realized she was in the wrong, and that she willingly gave up her life, HER LIFE, to save that of Mulder's made me like her, made me admire her. I can't like someone I don't admire, and I didn't her to begin with. How can one admire a traitorous person, you know? So, that annoyed and angered me, and I disliked her for it. But, she changed my mind.

The next person I thought of was Xander Harris from Buffy. Oh man. LOL this is another person that just annoyed me from the beginning. Yeah, I found him kind of funny, but not enough to make me like him. He was annoying and made some incredulous jokes, and his adamant hatred of Angel, though in a way just, just made me dislike him even more because it was as if he didn't bother to try to understand. I can understand that about him though. Anyways, I realized that I couldn't say Xander was the most annoying character for me because I haven't seen the completion of his character. I stopped Buffy after season 3, so I can't really judge him and, plus, I heard he becomes less annoying as the series progresses. Oh and he dated Cordy so that redeemed him in my eyes, at least until he cheated on her with Willow which was totes not cool at all. I liked him with her, mainly because I loved her but I think she made him better too. So yeah, I couldn't really not like him.

Then I thought of Ross from Friends. Ross was too dorky, in a bad way for me. He wasn't dorky in a cute way, and his obsession/love for Rachel annoyed me because it felt to me like he didn't really love her for her. I don't know how to describe it. His pining, I think is what really turned me off him. But, he proved himself to be a steadfast person and that's something that I really liked about him. So, in the end, he sort of did redeem himself to me and my view of him changed.

So, I don't know how to answer this question. From all the shows I've watched, there have been characters who annoyed me, but never enough to put me off them completely. I guess I don't have an answer then, just people that semi-annoyed me -- Diana Fowley, Xander Harris, Ross Gellar, Allison Cameron from House, etc -- but proved themselves to me as characters in the end.
