Yes. I'm a wee bit of a nerd - okay a total nerd, but no one who reads this should be surprised by that.
I spent the majority of today going through the horrific task of backing up all the crap on this machine and sending it to the hard drive of EvilMachine where it would remain whilst this computer was formatted and upgraded. As expected, that didn't go very smoothly because of Winblows' refusal to see the bracket as a usable symbol in a filename.
Ugh.

And I was soooo right to be worried about my doc files not transfering over to the EvilMachine. I tried a few different things to move the folder over there and the stupid computer pretty much did the equivalent of saying 'nyaa nyaa nya nyaaaa nyaa' complete with a raspberry and the third finger. I'm still somewhat baffled about this - but I have a feeling the only thing that would make it work would be renaming half the docs. Fortunately, since I had already uploaded everything to gmail (*bows to Mynuet for hooking me up with a gmail account* :) I didn't spend too much time worrying about it and continued the rest of the painful process.
By some miracle, the format and install went well and recovering the backed up mp3s, email, bookmarks, and other odd assortments of files has gone rather smoothly thus far. I even got Office back on without much of a fight. And now I'm sitting here playing with all the neat little Widgets that were included with this version of the OS. *loves my Tiger* :D
