Go and see Passchendaele.
I say this partially with reservations, because you need to see it even though I have issues with it.
For $20 million dollars (roughly that of Dogma) Paul Gross has made a movie with combat scenes equal to anything you've seen in another war movie. Ever. It is not just about combat, there is a love story. On the whole its not as fucking amazing as the combat, but it's far from bad.
Go and see it not only for its brilliance, but for it's failures, because they are goddamned hilarious.
p.s. there are three pages of funding sources for the movie, including the Govt of Alberta, and a Cattle company. We almost died of laughter at that.
In conclusion: it has flaws, but it is worth watching, and with a grain of salt, an authentic reproduction of the first world war.
