Troy Bolton
Sometimes, Ryan thinks of Troy as a friend. Sometimes, Ryan thinks of Troy as an annoying nuisance. Sometimes, Ryan is perfectly okay with Troy being the main character. Sometimes, Ryan really wants to steal Troy's thunder. It's only because of a combination of the Script and Chad that Ryan is generally accepting of Troy even when he's a total idiot. Fakir is someone that's hard for Ryan to classify, because he views him as something between a younger brother (not that he's ever had one) and a friend. In his own weird way, Ryan is looking out for Fakir by teasing him and pushing his character development forward - because he genuinely likes Fakir and thinks he's a good kid. Besides, he thinks Fakir and Mytho are cute together and his secret wish is to play Zanna to the world. Associated with: Something There; darling
Mytho
To Ryan, Mytho is really just an extension of Fakir. He's pretty aware that there's something a little off with Mytho but he doesn't want to pry because that's not his place - Ryan thinks that maybe Mytho is just introspective and sheltered and he honestly thinks Fakir needs to stop coddling him, but he knows that it's not his place to say anything about it, so he mostly just watches Mytho instead. Allison Blaire
Allison reminds Ryan of Sharpay in her rare, human moments, which is why out of anyone he's most likely to listen to Allison - but under the exact same conditions as he would listen to Sharpay. It has to benefit him in some way or it has to fit into his schedule. He does feel super bad for disappointing her though, because he really does like her. Shawn Spencer
The real reason Ryan even talks to Shawn is because he thinks it's fun and it annoys Lassiter. Besides, Ryan sees something he's intimately familiar with (regardless of the fact that he has no context for it) in Shawn and Lassiter. Okay, so they're not really gay theatre kid and sub-par jock, but they're kid of similar. Besides, Ryan thinks that Shawn is a pretty cool guy, even if he's pretty old and Ryan tries to associate with people his own age. Key word: tries. Carlton Lassiter
Fact: Ryan enjoys messing with people. Fact: Everyone messes with Lassiter. Ergo, it was only a matter of time before Ryan started bugging the everlasting shit out of Lassiter. Especially because Ryan thinks that Lassiter is pretty much so far back in the closet that he's find Christmas presents and Ryan likes causing sexual identity crisises.
