Feeling less stressed.

Mar 29, 2009 22:51

Yep. I've had a relaxing/busy weekend. Sorry I been MIA for like a week and not returning comments or anything. D: School kind of took over and then other stuff.

On Friday I FINALLY saw "Twilight", our LEO's movie "night", because Pauline had ordered the two-disk special edition last week. XD It was actually a lot better than I thought, though there were sooo many awkward-sexualtension-moments. I guess that made it good? At any rate, though before I was like ewww Twilight (I <3 HP!), it must have been pretty good to get me to say this. :P Yepp. Afterwards was the NHS talent show, which was okay. Just glad to support Carrie and Ronald and stuff, where we also promoted prom. XD Would I go again? Idk... there was a lot of singing acts, and (no offense) only a few really made me go "wow they're pretty good!". :)

Saturday was looooong. Had Leadership Symposium from 8-2 (actually 2:30), where 8th graders come and we show them around, talk to them about getting involved, etc. Wanted crepes but had to clean up fast at the end, so no crepes for me. D: They're actually a pretty enthusiastic group. Also, the group I was in charge of for the scavenger hunt (Group 4!), got FIRST place!! XD WOOO! I should have stretched before all the running though. :P

After, Caitlin and I waited for my parents to come from Alhambra to drive us to Nationals in Anaheim!! Nationals as in from Dance/Drill, All Male/Hip Hop, and Cheer (okay didn't watch Cheer but still). We were trying to go really fast to make it in time to watch our school's team since they were supposed to perform at like 3:45. Omg, my mom made us stop at McDonalds, which I was fine with because I was hungry and food @ comps are hecka expensive, but then she said "noo let me run inside it'll be faster than drive thru!". -___- YEAH RIGHT! It took like 20+ minutes for some reason, which I really think is what made us miss the co-ed routine so I couldn't cheer for Stephanie. We got to the convention center, finally, around 3:50, but got LOST! That place is huge and has so many extensions that we kept going into the Cheer competition, which was in the big arena, and kept asking for directions from staff. What was also frustrating was that our friends weren't really helping us with the directions and stuff, who had arrived earlier with Ms. Wong. We got really lucky that the doorman for Re-entry/teams was nice, because we walked outside without knowing we had to get our hands stamped, but he let us back in (thank god... I would have SCREAMED if he hadn't because tickets were $19). Once we found out where we had to go, we jogged/speed-walked to the place where Hip Hop was being held. It's a really good thing I made Caitlin walk a lot faster because we got there BARELY in time to see small/medium all male go on! XD It wasn't hard to find out fellow people due to the mass of gold shirts and our signs in front. I screamed my heart out of course. Afterwards, we left and kept finding people to hug. It was so intense, that the boys were CRYING during their performance. Their faces were DEAD serious, and I really loved their passion (I'm not biased!).
It was funny watching them take their group pictures, but really cute. I also got a BUNCH of free Schick *can't spell* Soleil razors, tampons (which I don't use), skintimate shaving cream, and Gatorade powder which you pour into water, thanks to the sponsors. :D Oh and a coupon for LuxeLash mascara from CG or something. The team had to go practice since they were due to perform at 7, but got moved up to 6, so we watched perfs for awhile. Some were really good, and some you could tell were kind of new (either that or they just were not that good). All female groups were... not the best. Only a few stood out to me. What was horrible were teams using the same songs in their mixes over and over again, and even worse was one all female group using one song for their ENTIRE routine and not even using many hip hop moves. Though I liked them better than the group that went before them that basically was the PCD "When I Grow Up" song & routine. -_- There's a fine line between hip hop and being a bit trashy, and they might have crossed it. For all males, Glendale's large (who our AM lost to at the last comp) was pretty good, took a twist on the gloves that EVERYONE keeps wearing by adding a red side, but I really didn't like that at they end they danced-ish to a part of Obama's speech. Oh yeah and they were wearing blue, red, and white Obama shirts. It's not that I don't like Obama, I just don't like when people bring politics into random places like that. *sigh*
After large AM performed and I REALLY screamed my heart out, we all ran backstage and hugged more, wooo. Then it was off to get seats in the Arena for awards, which Andrew, Caitlin, and I did as Ms. Wong & others put their free stuff in her car. We managed to find seats on the third, upper section with our school's team & alumni and what not, with a really clear view of the stage. We sadly didn't get FAR in in the drilldown competition (they give out orders to turn and march and stuff over the speakers, which is what the drill team does, and people get narrowed down to one by who follows those the best. It's actually pretty hard!), but I'm proud of Jon Avina and GT. They finally got to awards, which was NERVE RACKING. The worst part was waiting for large all male, because it went from like 15th place to 1st, and when it got to 2nd everyone was holding their breath. Then we heard "Glendale", and our entire section (which was a LOTTT of people) burst out screaming even though we hadn't been given any place yet. We sat down though, and of course heard West Covina get 1st place. ^_^ Here's the awards that I know my school won:

Small military & small pom: Got to finals (that was last night after I left/today so idk)
Large military: 3rd
Large All Male: 1st (Exhibition! Yay!)
Small/Medium All Male (same thing just different names that it's called I guess): 4th
Co-ed Hip Hop: Not sure... either fifth or fourth.

I think that's REALLY good considering that it's out of alllllll the high schools in the nation. O_O Woo! CONGRATS!
Official awards were at 11:30, but no way me and Caitlin were gonna stay that late. Ms. Wong and her carpool left like around 8, a few performances after the awards, but we ended up staying until 10:30 because my parents were taking a really long time. It was just performance after performance after performance, with only a few being REALLY interesting. T_O Like novelty teams, or prop teams. A lot of the the drill/all male teams left to their hotel rooms to put stuff away and came back and went, I guess to rest because they'd been working their hearts out for two days. Overall a good time though so YAY!

Sorry for that REALLY long entry, but it was a looong time that I was there. XD And also, I tend to write long entries about things that really stick in my mind. If you read that all, I freaking <3 you because I don't think even I would have the patience to get through that.
A few last notes about today:

I've only gotten e-mails back about receiving my payments from a small poster seller, and a group order person. Still waiting on a person selling a magazine, and the person who I bought my prom dress from. I find it REALLY weird that somehow the person the farthest away (Japan!) got it first, and then another person semi-farther away (Chicago), considering that the prom dress seller lives in NorCal (Sacramento). >.O I'm just hoping that they're a slow e-mailer, or something. Will check back as in everything I buy right now depends on that.
Speaking of buying stuff for prom, got *new* makeup today! Went to Target. Got Revlon ColorStay w/ Softflex, for Normal/Dry Skin in Natural Beie, Maybelline's Dream Matte Powder in Sand, their Unstoppable eyeliner in onyx, and their Colossal Volume Express mascara in classic black. Was kind of worried because hadn't really read too many reviews on these products, only heard like Revlon was good for foundation and stuff. Googled, THEN tested, and am relieved. :) Though only tested the eyeliner and mascara, only found rave reviews for the powder & foundation so I should be safe! Pictures tomorrow.
Last note:
Was attempting to play Sims today, but freaked out when expansion pack updates on neighborhood screens kept repeating themselves and I couldn't do anything about it. Fixed it though so YAY!

Ah well. I should study. XD So NIIGHT! Hope your weekend was as good as mine, as tired as I may be. ^_^
