Movie Review: The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004)

I enjoyed this movie quite a bit. I espesialy liked how all the characters act apathetic while participating in intense action scenes. I've been told that is just this director's style. Even so, it worked for this movie especially well. The main character, Steve Zissou (Bill Murray), smokes self-rolled cannabis ciggarettes throughout the entire movie. This helps explain why he is so casual throughout the action packed scenes. In one, pirates attack his boat and tie up all the members of the crew. Steve says, "if you don't get off my boat there will be a shit-storm" or something to that extent while completely unarmed and facing several angry, gun-toating, philipanese pirates. Sure enough, he breaks free from his ropes and fights off all of the pirates (killing one of them). This wouldn't be worth mentioning exept for the fact that he does it in the same way that I would get up and get a drink. There is a lot more to the movie that makes it great but I'm not going to re-tell everything.
