Oh, wow. I'm watching Doctor Who's third season in what seems to be fast forward. I have no sense of trying to prolong the fun. But now I have to save the last three eps till later, thanks to our short little fall vacation coming to an end. Can't be watching DW till ridiculous a.m. today, like I did last night...
First of all, gosh, how I missed the show. Even though I just watched the second season this past summer and the first Torchwood season after that. And yes, after a full season of David Tennant's Tenth Doctor, I'm finally convinced he's the Doctor. :) (Well, I was a little before the end of S2, but Nine was so hard to leave behind.)
Okay, a few random thoughts, then.
Martha. Umm. I do like Rose better still. But Martha's situation isn't exactly rewarding, is it? I for one seem to be very slow to adjust to changes in the crew of TARDIS. And I still feel for the Doctor, who obviously still misses Rose.
How's Martha going to win me over? She isn't quite as quirky as Rose, but I guess she has her strengths. I'll just have to figure out what they are. The jury's still out on this one.
Human Nature and The Family of Blood were interesting episodes because of a few reasons. First of all, I did recognise (or at least I think so) the parts that were filmed in St. Fagans park where we went this summer, just outside of Cardiff. Whee! I've been where the Doctor has been! *fannish squees*
The other reason is, of course, that it was very interesting to see the Doctor as a human. He was scared, insecure and reluctant to let go of a future of love and family life. Nothing more human than that, is there? John Smith crying, because he had to choose death for himself - very touching. And Tennant did a great job bringing out the vulnerability of that side of the Doctor. Or Mr. Smith, as it was.
So far my favourite of the season is probably Blink. Scary stuff. I'm still shuddering at the thought of the weeping angel statues. And all the rest of the statues of the world. Sheesh, what a disturbing image to leave a viewer with!
In the next ep, it's time to meet Cpt. Jack again! Yay! I've missed him. :)
Ah well, time to get to bed. It's back to work tomorrow after a refreshing four days of idleness. And getting older. I could do with a bit more of vacation, but there's less than 10 weeks to go till Christmas vacation. Woohoo.
