Thanks! Yes, Panasonic finally came up with a decent upgrade to the FZ38/(FZ35) after two failed attempts. They've upped the zoom to 24x optical, which gives a noticeable improvement. What they've actually done with this model, though, is go back to just 12MP. The previous two versions they'd increased to 14MP and that just didn't work. All I ever got was blurry photos out of the FZ45 I tried. This camera I love, though, and it was well worth the money.
I may have to buy one. I was just looking at the specs and they look really good. How heavy is the camera? I see it's 5 oz heavier. Does that make a difference when taking lots of shots? Does it do well for fast shots (like the guys running)?
The specs are excellent for the money. It is very slightly larger and just a bit heavier than the FZ38 so still fine for putting in a backpack (or large handbag). (I took around 600 photos yesterday and my wrists don't ache from doing it). I used the outdoor sports setting at (or near) maximum optical zoom and got plenty of well focused shots. I was actually surprised how clearly the photos came out as I was sitting nowhere near the front of the stands during the matches.
OK... though by then I hope to have pics from Burnley too! :-)
We decided to stay on for those dates as there are things we want to do at the weekend and we figured if they don't film then we'll just go and hang out in Paris instead!
Yeah, I'm actually staying in Paris after that for a few days. My 18 year old daughter is flying in on June 29 and she's never seen Paris, then it's off to Wales.

I bought the camera. Will have it Wed.
Are you going to put up the other cast pics at some point? Under spoiler cuts maybe?

I'm not sure when I'll have time to post more photos as the next few weeks are mad busy. Feels like I'll hardly be home!
