Cute Naive Umika-chan, an UmikaChii fan fiction (Part 1 of ?)
Okay, for some unknown reason, UmikaChii is becoming a cute little muse bunny that jumps over and over again inside my mind. And it really is irritating. SO I have to write it. Fast. (Because my TakaChii love is being stepped on by the bunny).

Summary: Chinen's narcissism irritates some, amuses some and... well, there are those that doesn't care much. Keep in mind that narcissists like attention, and as such doesn't like NOT getting attention.
"Chinen-kun is so cute here in this photoshoot!" Shida gushed as she flipped through the magazine. There was a picture of him sitting on Hikaru's lap, which made the girls gush some more. "You're really, really cute, ne Chinen-kun~?"
Yamada flashed a 'shut up' look at Shida.
Shida didn't even notice.
"I know." Chinen said in amusement. "Those pictures were really cute, ne?"
The girl proceeded to pinching the boy's cheeks and repeating 'Kawaii~' over and over again. Shida's friends looked at the magazine she was reading too. And, in reaction, squealed in admiration too.
Repeated 'awww...' were heard from the group of girls.
Chinen's smile widened.
Yamada simply shook his head. Yuto smiled and patted his best friend's back comfortingly. "Don't worry." he whispered. "He'll get back to normal once the girls stop talking about how cute he is."

Ohgo Suzuka read quietly on her chair, trying to concentrate while the other girls talked loudly beside her. 'Tsk...' Why did everyone have to fuss so much?!
"Anou... Suzuka-chan?" Kawashima Umika walked slowly to her side, eyes big and innocently peering into her glaring ones. "Do you want to study with me in the library? I noticed you were a little... disturbed."
Suzuka eyed her carefully, from her nervous composure to her pleading wide eyes. "Sure, I need that."
Umika smiled at her happily. "Okay, let's go?"
The other girl couldn't help but smile and nod.
A pair of eyes watched as the two girls walked away from the bustling room.

Another 'Chinen is so cute! Oh, Yuto, you look good here. Yamada-kun looks really different, huh?' moment was happening. This time, Nishiuchi Mariya was the one who showed the magazine she had to the other girls.
"But Chinen-kun, if you grow so much, won't people find it weird since you're always so cute?" one classmate asked.
"Eh... I can act cool too! Ne, Yama-chan, Yuto-kun~?" he said, quite cutely (which actually contrasts what he is saying.)
"Hai." the two answered simultaneously, uninterested.
Suzuka and Umika were side by side listening to an Ipod that time, and so didn't really hear the commotion. Umika hummed as the song changed to a 9nine song. Suzuka patted the girl's head and whispered inaudibly 'Personally, I think you're way cuter...'
Now, three pairs of eyes darted to the two, silently pondering about the scene.

Chinen huffed irritatedly, sitting down the floor. He crossed his arms and frowned, a clear sign that something wasn't going right for him.
"Seriously, Chii, what are you so angry about?" Yamada asked in annoyance. "Stop sulking will you? A sulking Chinen sounds like the end of the world..."
"But... but Kawashima-san... She's obviously..." Chinen frowned more and pouted at the floor. Glaring at whatever he sees.
"Kawashima-chan? What's she doing to you?" Yuto asked curiously.
Kamiki and Irie exchanged suspicious looks before shrugging and looking back at Chinen.
The little boy still looked down, showing how irritated he is, and said an almost inaudible, "She's clearly ignoring me. It's so obvious."
... Ignoring Chinen? 0.0
The four boys listening couldn't help but crack up and laugh. Kawashima Umika is ignoring Chinen Yuri, and HE is being DEPRESSED? That is a total laugh trip.
"haha.... Chii, she's not ignoring you. Maybe that's just your imagination. She even asked you about the lesson earlier, right?" Yuto explained in a calm manner, trying to hide his not-so-innocent-smile.
Chinen nodded but still continued sulking. "But that's different... why doesn't she... why doesn't she...?"
Yamada smiled and completed the sentence for him. "... Find you cute? ...Squeal everytime she sees you act like a child? ...Ask you about your latest photo shoot?"
"...No... Maybe... yes."
Yuto looked at Chinen weirdly for a second. "But Ohgo-san also doesn't do those stuff right?"
"But she's different. She's way too preoccupied with someone else to even notice my existence. Kawashima-san isn't like that. She isn't in love with any one..."
The tall boy's eyes widened in shock. "Ohgo-san is in love? And you know?"
"Of course I know. It's way too obvious, right?" Chinen looked at the other boys to see Kamiki and Irie nod approvingly and to see Yamada tilt his head in confusion. "Okay, maybe it isn't obvious to you and Yama-chan. But we see it... And that isn't even the main problem! Kawashima-san is!"
Kamiki, for the first time since this conversation started, spoke with a questioning voice. "Why does it even matter? You've got almost all the girls squealing at your every cute gesture, why do you have to focus on this one girl? Unless..."
Chinen eyed him a few seconds before looking down. "That's not it. I just don't... understand."
Irie smiled and patted the little boy's head. "You can talk to her, you know? It's not as if she actually ignores you."
Yuto and Yamada smiled and nodded encouragingly. (Though I am practically sure that Yamada didn't understand about Kawashima-chan too. He's probably clueless about the girl. Just like how he is for every girl in their class. Except maybe Shida Mirai. But that's another story altogether.)

Chinen nervously waited in front of their classroom. Almost half of the class was gone, Yuto and the other boys included. The only ones left inside was Kawashima Umika and Ohgo Suzuka. They were still on cleaning duty, to Chinen's utmost irritation.
Suzuka took the garbage can and walked to the door.
"Chi-!" She was about to blow Chinen's cover when the boy placed his index finger on his lips to indicate 'quiet~'. She raised her eyebrow questioningly at him.
"I just want to... talk to Kawashima-san." Chinen said.
A look of understanding passed through her face and she nodded, telling him that she'll just throw the garbage. He should take that time to say whatever he wants to say.
Chinen nervously walked to the room, knocking politely to signal that he was at the door.
Umika looked up in surprise. "Ah! Chinen-san. Did you forget something?"
The boy shook his head and looked at her determinedly. "I... want to talk to you."
"Hm? What is it?" she asked, tilting her head to the right.
He scratched his cheeks sheepishly, finding a hard time to ask her that stupid little question. "I... want to ask..." He looked at her eyes, then looked down, suddenly feeling shy and stupid for even trying to ask. He couldn't say it, he realized. Instead, with a sudden surge of instict, he asked, "Can I walk you home?"
...And seriously, it was stupid. Boys and girls weren't allowed to be seen together near the vicinity of the school. It was practically impossible. Asking that question was as stupid as his original question.
"Eh?" Umika blushed, not knowing what to say. "But that's..."
Chinen smiled uncomfortably and said "Ah. Forget I asked. That was stupid of me..."
Umika smiled, and Chinen saw how the world brightened more for a fraction of a second. "Thanks for the thought. That's really sweet of you to ask."

Somehow, Chinen was hit by massive curiosity of who Kawashima Umika likes. Since he knows who Ohgo Suzuka likes, and fairly approves of the said crush, it doesn't really bother him that the girl doesn't fawn over him. But as he doesn't know anything about Umika's feelings, a certain irritation always strikes his heart whenever the girl sees a picture of him and does not act likehow the other girls do.
Thus, he realized that knowing who Umika likes is the best solution for his weird irritation-problem. And it would also prove that Kamiki is wrong about his always-implied reason of why Chinen focuses so much on Umika. All would be well, ne?

The aforementioned boy, clad in casual clothes and clutching on a copy of a magazine with JUMP on the cover, was walking back to his house when he saw the girl he is so curious about. Looking at the girl's back, a brilliant idea came to his mind.
"Kawashima-san!" he called out.
The girl looked back to see Chinen running to her, a wide smile plastered on his face. She smiled her own smile and waved cutely. "Hi. Do you live around here?"
Chinen nodded and asked her why she was in their neighborhood.
"I visited a friend." was her simple answer.
'Now!' he signalled to himself. He faked an 'Oh!' and pretended to drop his magazine. (SERIOUSLY CHII, ARE YOU THE GIRL IN THIS FANFIC?! STOP ACTING LIKE A TOTAL GIRL!!! *ahem* sorry, ignore my outburst please. Couldn't help myself.)
Umika dropped to her knees and took the magazine in her hands. She looked up to him and said, "What's the problem?" She looked at the magazine and stared at the picture.
Chinen scanned her face for any flail-y reaction. He found none. He watched her eyes and wondered who she stares at the most. With a sudden wave of courage, he asked, "Ne, who do you like the most in JUMP?"
"JUMP...? With Chinen-san, Nakajima-kun and Yamada-san? Anou... I think... Nakajima-kun? He's tall and cool so I really admire him, I guess." she answered, eyes blinking while thinking about what to say. "But since I see him at school, and he always acts so kind to me, I think I'm pretty biased."
The boy quirked an eyebrow, wondering about what she said. 'Uh, so she likes Yuto too. But... it isn't something... how can I say this? Hmmm, it's more of pure admiration. That's not what I'm looking for...'
"Yuto-kun? You like tall guys then?" he asked. He mentally hit himself for asking another stupid question.
She shook her head. "I... don't have any preferences. I'm trying to focus on acting, singing and studying so I try not to think about those." She looked down in embarrassment, feeling as if her answer was something that's always heard on her magazine interviews.
Chinen felt as if he did something wrong. Seeing her hang her head like that, he felt a certain kind of guilt because of his silliness. "I'm sorry for asking too much."
Her eyes widened and she looked up to him. She shook her head immediately. "It's nothing." she smiled. "But... you're really weird, Chinen-san."
He chuckled. "I guess I am."

Kamiki laughed out loud as he watched his four classmates, namely Irie, Chinen, Yuto and Yamada. Yamada was sulking at the corner, while Yuto comforted him. Chinen and Irie, on the other hand, were sorting their valentine's chocolate.
"I will never get one, huh?" Yamada mumbled, staring at the floor and tracing hearts on it. "Why do you always get chocolates and I don't?!" he glared at his best friend.
"I can give you my chocolates, if you want." Yuto said sweetly.
Yamada continued tracing hearts on the floor with a pout. "But those are yours. I want my own chocolates."
A group of girls walked towards the group of boys. Two of them, Shida and Saaya, were holding small boxes that probably contained chocolates.
"Irie-kun, here." Saaya approached the said boy and gave the chocolate. She also took another one and gave it to Chinen. "Hope you like it."
Yamada almost cried at the corner.
"Yamada-kun!" Shida approached him and gave him a small box of chocolate. "It's not much, but I baked it myself. I hope you like it."
"Shida-chan~" he hugged her and almost cried like a child. "Thank you! You're so sweet..."
The girl simply laughed sheepishly and patted his back. "It's nothing big. We worked together, after all. It's a thank you gift!"
The girls walked away with smiles on their faces.

Chinen was on the middle of counting his chocolates when a particular one caught his attention. It was one that was just left on his seat, without the girl personally giving it. It had a simple pink card... that says:

A smile crept up his lips without him noticing. Why it was special, he didn't know. But the thought that Kawashima Umika, the one ignoring him, actually gave him a chocolate warmed his heart.

He shook his head. "Yama-chan is happy because Shida-chan gave him chocolates. I'm hiding from Chinen. I got about four more chocolates than he got... And I've got something that I guess he wouldn't want to see."
"That cute chocolate that came from Umika-chan? He gave you and Chinen that, right? And... from your expression, it looks like he doesn't know that you have one too." Kamiki looked at Chinen happily munching on a chocolate. "You're making the right decision. Hide it. The poor boy's heart will be broken if you don't."
Yuto nodded. "I know. Just like..." he looked at the heart-shaped chocolate clutched on Kamiki's hands at his back. "Just like how you're protecting Yama-chan by not showing him that big chocolate that Shida-chan baked for you."
Kamiki blushed, a rare occurence that only happens when he is really embarrassed. "I'm trying to hide it from the world. Why did you have to find out?"
"Birds of the same feather flock together, I guess." Yuto shrugged.

"I can give you my chocolates, if you want." Yuto said sweetly.
Yamada continued tracing hearts on the floor with a pout. "But those are yours. I want my own chocolates."
A group of girls walked towards the group of boys. Two of them, Shida and Saaya, were holding small boxes that probably contained chocolates.
"Irie-kun, here." Saaya approached the said boy and gave the chocolate. She also took another one and gave it to Chinen. "Hope you like it."
Yamada almost cried at the corner.
"Yamada-kun!" Shida approached him and gave him a small box of chocolate. "It's not much, but I baked it myself. I hope you like it."
"Shida-chan~" he hugged her and almost cried like a child. "Thank you! You're so sweet..."
The girl simply laughed sheepishly and patted his back. "It's nothing big. We worked together, after all. It's a thank you gift!"
The girls walked away with smiles on their faces.

Chinen was on the middle of counting his chocolates when a particular one caught his attention. It was one that was just left on his seat, without the girl personally giving it. It had a simple pink card... that says:

A smile crept up his lips without him noticing. Why it was special, he didn't know. But the thought that Kawashima Umika, the one ignoring him, actually gave him a chocolate warmed his heart.

Yuto sat beside Kamiki, silently hiding his chocolates behind him.
The other boy smiled naughtily and asked, "Why are you hiding those? Afraid that Yamada-kun will cry again?"
He shook his head. "Yama-chan is happy because Shida-chan gave him chocolates. I'm hiding from Chinen. I got about four more chocolates than he got... And I've got something that I guess he wouldn't want to see."
"That cute chocolate that came from Umika-chan? He gave you and Chinen that, right? And... from your expression, it looks like he doesn't know that you have one too." Kamiki looked at Chinen happily munching on a chocolate. "You're making the right decision. Hide it. The poor boy's heart will be broken if you don't."
Yuto nodded. "I know. Just like..." he looked at the heart-shaped chocolate clutched on Kamiki's hands at his back. "Just like how you're protecting Yama-chan by not showing him that big chocolate that Shida-chan baked for you."
Kamiki blushed, a rare occurence that only happens when he is really embarrassed. "I'm trying to hide it from the world. Why did you have to find out?"
"Birds of the same feather flock together, I guess." Yuto shrugged.

Hmmm... Does Chinen like Umika now? Does Umika like Chinen? Does Shida like Kamiki? Who does Suzuka like? Will Yamada ever get as plenty chocolates as Yuto's? When will Umika flail over our resident cute squirrel?
