Bittersweet This Is It

Oct 28, 2009 21:35

So I came back from the noon (12:40) screening of This Is It @ the Yonge & Eglinton theatre today. The theatre wasn't too full, I would say there was 25-30 people tops, I guess because it was the noon show.
People were so quiet, it felt a little bit like a Memorial rather than a concert (rehearsal) show...bittersweet would be the word to describe it.

The movie was VERY well made, no wonder most gave it a 4* out of 4 rating. Sound quality was amazing and worth seeing it in theatres. Kenny Ortega did a great job. My God was MJ a perfectionist...never seen anyone conduct like that and while correcting mistakes have so much respect for the people he was working with. LOVE.
I can't believe I never got to see him live. That thought is eating me up inside.
No matter what people think, he was pure genius. He to timing, choreography, hearing music notes, coaching other dancers...was like Corny Cole (whom I had the pleasure of meeting at CalArts and who taught me how to draw hands) is to Life Drawing. Like Walt Disney was to innovating Animation and making it so popular. Genius.
Tears came when the credits started rolling. What would I give to have been able to see the completed show with the full dance routines...there it is again, the knot in my throat.

I should continue working on my Animation assignment. What this man taught me is that it is dishonorable to create something half-assed.
Thanks Michael for all that you showed me.
