So I got to a point in Final Fantasy XIII where we visited a theme park that had a chocobo coral where you could 'walk with and pet the chocobos'. Adorable chocobos everywhere! And I'm walking around, enjoying the cheerful chocobo theme song which has been a staple for Final Fantasies since the Nintendo days when all of a sudden there were lyrics! You can listen to it
here. The lyrics start about 1:30 minutes in.
It's kind of in engrish, but Tom and I did our best to decipher the lyrics:
Run like the wind just leave your cares behind
Take us around the world and back again
Promise together we will chase the sun
And make some green to share the ride in store for you and me (this line is questionable)
Let's go find, gil and fame
Dig a little, stake our claim
Take a chance, trust in me
You will seee
We will find them...
And here they are in all their cuteness:
Chocobos, chocobos, chocobos...
How's the rest of the game? So far the game has been mostly one long, linear dungeon with cut scenes every 10 minutes or so. The voice acting is good, most of the background music has lyrics which is a nice change, the scenery couldn't be prettier, and the characters are likable for the most part.
My biggest gripes are that you can't break up the story and do side quests to buff up your characters and there's a cap on how much you can level up at any time during the game, therefore keeping you on a level playing field with the enemies at all times. There's no backtracking to areas you've been before either, and so it goes without saying, there's no world map exploration.
I'm only about 15 hours into the game, but so far, it's been enjoyable, though not addicting. The chocobo coral really boosted my opinion of the game though! :P
Enough talking. More playing.
