One More Person Added to the Picture
Two sets of pupils. Both stern and unwavering, both accusing. The first to speak though was the duo haired guitarist.
"What the hell is wrong with Kaoru? Why didn't you tell me right at the beginning?" His jaw returned back to its firm position; molars clenched tighter, grinding together when the question was left unanswered. "Well? Or do I -not- have a jeep and Kaoru drives a moped? I don't like being lied to-"
"I didn't lie to you," Toshiya cradled his mug. He'd returned to his passive, silent self. Maybe if he stayed like that, he wouldn't have to discuss Kaoru, but that wasn't possible; now Die became aware-along with Kyo-Why did he have to find out first? This shouldn't be his problem to solve, even though it forced itself onto him. And, if he gave that responsibility to one of the others... Toshiya couldn't do that. They didn't know Kaoru like he did, they'd approach the problem the wrong way. Because of that, Toshiya had to be here, see Kaoru again, and explain-intervene when both guitarists would inevitably argue just as Kyo and Kaoru had.
"I didn't think you'd believe me. This morning has been so tough, Die."
"You coulda said so..." The redhead leaned in his chair, rolling his head back to check the time. A miniscule yawn later he rose from the table, not as cheerful as he had been during Kaoru's first call.
"I guess I'll have to get my answers from Leader-sama himself. Don't worry Toshiya, whatever's happened to him, you two will be fine."
"Don't...."
Die halted.
"Don't get angry at him."
"Get angry at Kao? For what? Lying about my jeep?" He scoffed, "please. It's not like we're in the 90's anymore."
Toshiya winced.
"Gimme a sec. I'll be back with Kao and we can figure whatever the hell's going on." Die fished for his keys and stepped out, waving Toshiya in the kitchen goodbye.

Kaoru sat on the edge of the curb, hands behind his back supporting his upper torso. He was so irked by Die that he didn't care if the other came or not, didn't care if Die knew where Kaoru was:because Kaoru sure as hell didn't know. Besides, no transportation existed; the brunette lost his moped, the redhead didn't buy a car.
The shorter guitarist stepped back into the house unsure why, but needing to validate something. He ignored the bedroom and strolled around the living room, surveying all the memorabilia and whatnot, stopping in front of the large entertainment center.
So many dvds. Row upon row. And how many players were there? Dvd, vhs, stereo surround system, who's did they all belong to? In home studio: The Most Badass Thing Ever. Then....
Pictures, stickers, purikura, all of Kaoru and the boys. Kaoru with pink hair, Kaoru with purple braids, Kaoru with short brown hair, Kaoru with Japanese mullet. All the others guys varied as well, but the guitarist didn't notice them as much as his own handsome mug. He didn't recall ever taking these. The photos were clearly of him, but... Each one seemed 'aged' somehow. Was it sheer contrast of make up in some, none in others?
The guitarist wore things he'd never consider touching in his life: most god-awful and hideous. He began to wonder...
It most definitely was Kaoru, unmistakably Die, without a doubt official posters and [a knot] material; Kaoru certainly stood in front of those cameras-in those clothes, with those distinct poses-and yet he couldn't recall any of the whole god damn process. He wanted to believe what Toshiya said, but no one automatically wakes up one morning and forgets an entire life. Years of memories don't just float away in the night, they spurt out when someone's hit on the head or experience a traumatic event-in those cases, only the petrifying event is blocked, not years and years. It didn't add up.
Kaoru smiled at the framed shirt of himself in a puffy, fur hat, and square platforms: fine choice of wardrobe, at least he had some sense of fashion. Oh! And the trashcan littered with stickers of him and a few of Toshiya and Shinya. Gauze era, La:Sadies era, and a few he didn't recognize. The La:Sadies and Gauze he distinctly remembered placing deliberately in those spots. He reminisced with a swelling sense of pride and affection.
'Toshiya's phone' buzzed against Kaoru's thigh, he jumped in mild surprise. Pulling the device from his jeans pocket, he flipped it open and read the text from Die: he was here.
No fucking way!
With what vehicle? Public transportation was not THAT fast.
Dir en grey's leader quickly exited the house to confirm what he already knew: Die wasn't really there.
To his utter shock and disbelief.... A fiery blazing red Grand Jeep Cherokee revved on the driveway, driver a very sexy, very hardcore male sporting ebony and firecracker hair, rough denim jacket, and most awesome pair of sunglasses Kaoru had ever laid eyes upon. Such a stiff scowl beneath those tinted shades, this adonis resembled nothing of the goofy dork Kaoru associated with, this couldn't be Die just as that old freak couldn't have been Kyo.
However, Die's unique voice bounded from the attractive male, "now tell me again I don't have a car, Kaoru." He did not sound his jolly self.
Kaoru did not step closer. "...When did you get it?" He eyed the younger guitarist warily. A frown, prompted by Die, added to the stare when Kaoru didn't get the answer he wanted.
Even in all those pictures, Die didn't look like this, his hair was always flaming red, or long and gigantic; images of La: Sadies Die in pitch black hair reaching toward the sky illuminated inside Kaoru's mind, bringing an amused glimmer in his eyes-but for just a brief second. First Toshiya's lack of azure, now Die's transformation, next Shinya with dreadlocks? Dir en grey's leader really did not want to find out how far this morning would travel.

"When did I get it? Be serious, Kaoru. This baby has been with me for 2 years, and you know what happened to my Mazda."
"....Y-your what?" Kaoru closed his eyes and shook his head before he could digest those words. "Mazda? Those things get pricey."
"Yeah, especially my MX6 Convertible. Christ I cried when it crashed," Die interrupted. He wasn't liking this, not one bit. "I knew by Toshiya's behavior something was up but I thought it was relationship problems." The jeep rumbled out the last bit of juice before the engine died; Die took the key out of the ignition. He wanted to set it all out on the table before going back to his place where Toshiya waited.
"You two didn't have a fight, did you?" Die's tone wasn't as hostile anymore, it was more inquisitive, and being unsure of what situation this was, he didn't want to approach it wrong.
"Yeah. Toshiya started talking bullshit and left all in a fit. You'd think he'd be mature enough to tell me he doesn't wanna be in the band anymore, but noooo," Kaoru raised his arms up and outward, "he's gotta make outlandish insinuations and pull crazy stunts," considering the stickers, "you think he knows photoshop?"
"Wait, wait. Slow down. What about what now? Toshiya's quitting?"
"Flat out told me. 'Leave for good.' Those were his words, all over a stupid argument too."
Die wrapped his fingers around the sleek steering wheel: a safeguard to keep him from doing anything brash. The words he chose were caged behind a fence of composure, "Toshiya wouldn't leave just like that. He'd have to be pretty upset...." His grip tightened so the wheel squeaked. "What did you do to him?"
"What I did!? Ask him. I wasn't the one slamming people into walls. If I didn't know better, I'd say he was Kisaki in disguise."
"Kisa--Kisaki!?" Both hands dropped from the wheel. "This is going too far. I don't care what Toshiya did, you can't say that. I really don't wanna take you back to my place...not if you act like this.." With the key turned, the engine roared back to life obediently. "And by the looks of it, Toshiya doesn't want to see you. So come clean or I'm not taking you anywhere."
Kaoru set a firm scowl on his face. "Come clean on what? All I did was wake up to a psychotic Toshiya and an unpleasant man claiming he's Kyo. Now I've got you saying you've owned two cars-one a very expensive car-and you completely chopped off your hair. What's there to come clean about?"
With each word Kaoru spoke, Die's head tilted more and more into a diagonal angle, brow above his nose wrinkling further and further, corner of his mouth carving an indent deeper and deeper, until he finished.
"Uh...That didn't really answer anything. I'm-I'm confused, Kaoru. Kyo stopped by too?" Die scratched his furry amber and charcoal mane. Not hearing what he wanted to, the guitarist became more confounded witihin seconds. He should be mad, upset, displeased at Kaoru for distressing their bassist but none of it sounded like a normal description of a fight; it was more like random banter-no, much worse than that, utter nonsense: Die didn't know what to make of it.
"Was he apart of this fight or did you call him or...," Die groaned aloud, bopping his forehead against the steering wheel, "get in the car. I don't wanna bare the brunt of your crazy talk again, it's like Room 304 all over again."
"Hey! I had solid reason behind it all." Kaoru frowned indignantly. "The cameras were slanted wrong and made it look like a parallel universe. How could I not mention possibilities of other Dies and other Shinya's?"
"Whoa! Whoa! -That's- what we argued about!? Damn you've got good memory." Die grinned wickedly at his fellow guitarist. He motioned for him to enter the vehicle so they could be on their way, slumping back comfortably and fastening the safety belt before revving the engine playfully.
One thought that occurred to Kaoru and swam around in circles inside his head as he saddled in next to his good friend of 'five' years:
That argument happened not more than 2 weeks ago... How could he forget?"
