So recently Gail Simone and Newsarama's Jill talked about the upcoming Batgirl in which Barbara Gordon will apparently be returning to her role as Batgirl.
For those who don't know, Jill is a young, 28 year old computer nerd who also happens to be using a wheelchair due to a type of Muscular Dystrophy who wrote
this gut-wrenching essay when she heard about Barbara's return to the role of Batgirl.
This talk with her was apparently in response to that:
http://www.newsarama.com/comics/gail-simone-dicusses-batgirl-and-oracle-110609.html ......This is the first time that I'm genuinely in awe of Gail Simone especially in the way she managed to present herself throughout this mess and my heart goes out for Jill for whom hopefully things will get better for.
I cannot say whether there was anything offensive in that interview seeing as how I'm not in the group that's going to affected by this but that was a very candid talk and Gail managed to present herself well in it.
Anyway, posts like Jill's are exactly why I'm still against the idea of Babs being Batgirl again but Gail nearly managed to make me want to win me over. I would probably buy the book...if I could that is seeing as how I'm in a region where comics aren't imported anymore and I have to resort to online for my comics fix.
Finally, I hope these links have been informative for you guys seeing as how this has been one of the most controversial things to come out of the DC Reboot.
