This probably makes more sense for those that actually watch or read the series but still, goddamn, never before have I ever seen an opening theme or music video that wholeheartedly captures the spirit of the series.
The journey the characters go through; the hardship, the sorrow, the pivotal and the heartwarming moments. Finally climaxing at the point where Ace's ghost pushes Luffy towards his iconic straw hat. I actually cried over that and I never normally cry over anything. Maybe get misty eyed every now and then but I was close to sobbing this times.
And yet, and yet, at heart the opening exemplifies what's truly important in the One Piece world, laughter, joy, fun, adventure, friends and their's and your own dreams. Because in a Crap Saccharine world with a corrupt and unfair world government and ruthless pirates out to kill you, the power of firendship and dreams are the only thing that you can count on.
One Piece is far from the perfect manga, it does not always get it right but for me, it has been a long time that I have read a series that took me through an emotional rollercoaster with each passing chapter and arc and managed to instill that grand sense of adventure and thrill in me.
