So despite the epic tantrum that I
threw when I thought that Lois wasn't in the re-boot, apparently she is in the reboot and thankfully I didn't completely humiliate myself on this given the disclaimer and others having thought the same as well given the phrasings of that article.
The other female lead in the movie is apparently
Ursula. She was previously played by Sarah Douglas in the Superman 2. Snyder had initially denied Zod of being in the movie but we'll see if he's either changed his mind or whether this is just to set up General Zod for future sequels (God I hope not).
The current short-listed actresses for the role are Diane Kruger, Rosamund Pike and Alice Eve.
Out of all three, I suppose I would pick Rosamund Pike for the role. I'm not familiar with Alice Eve but I have seen Diane Kruger in National Treasure and Rosamund Pike in the Bond movie Die Another Day and also Fracture. You can consider the former to basically be her audition tape for the role since Miranda Frost and Ursa has similar shades to one another. Plus she has a kind of regal-ness to her that suits her for the role.
As for Lois, well based on what I've heard, Rachel Mcadams and Olivia Wilde are the current top candidates for the role. Based on what I've seen of McAdams (Sherlock Holmes) and from what I have heard of Olivia Wilde during the release of Tron: Legacy, I'll have to go with Olivia Wilde.
It's not that I think Rachel is a bad actress she was alright in Sherlock Holmes but she just doesn't have the spark or energy that I see in Olivia Wilde. She is a bit too soft and pretty for the role while Olivia looks more down-to-earth and natural, plus it's those eye's and that focus she has that sold it for me.
Speaking of Sherlock Holmes.
Here's a recent pic:
I'm glad that Noomi Rapace's character appears to be more than just a replacement for Irene Adler (judging by these pics) . I was a mite bit worried on how they'll handle the lack of female characters in the following given the ending of the first movie.
Also, look whose back:
Rachel McAdams as Irene Adams next to Director Guy Ritchie. Admittedly, while I felt that McAdam's acting was a bit lacking in certain areas, I did enjoy her character in the movie. Though the book version is, imo, considerably superior to the movie version.
In general the RDjr!Holmes movies, for me has been a fun and entertaining romp through the Holmes mythos. From my perspective, these aren't the characters from the book by any stretch of the imagination but a fun what if/ultimate-verse take on these characters. It's still sort-of those characters but with new dimensions and sides to them to make them more entertaining and fun, keeping them fresh for newer viewers while throwing some Mythological Gag for the already established fans of the character.
Anyway I eagerly await the new Sherlock Holmes movie titled Sherlock Holmes 2.
