But WILL There Be a Space Balls 2? I Want a Space Balls 2.

Holy shit, this Star Wars marketing push.

Star Wars is one of those cultural things that has just totally passed me by: I watched the prequel trilogy because my brother took me with him to the movies, I never watched the original trilogy until my late teens, and I basically know only the stereotypical things about the fandom and its love-hate relationship with its canon. I must have missed the prime window for obsession or something, because Star Wars just...never clicked with me. It's not like I hate it, I just have no strong feelings about it at all. Actually, now that I think of it, I might have preemptively ruined myself for Star Wars by watching Space Balls first. WHOOPS.

Anyway, as a more or less totally disinterested observer, I'm looking upon this absolutely massive, all-encompassing marketing push with wondering awe. I mean, I'm a Harry Potter and MCU fan, I know from huge media properties! But this is something else. Part of me really wonders, "is this really necessary?" I mean, this movie would be printing money no matter what. This level of total saturation seems frankly excessive. I'm interested to see what direction the fandom takes.
