It's That Time of Year Again: Yuletide Time!
Aaaahhh I am completely unprepared for Yuletide signups omg. Okay, not completely unprepared. I've got a list of three fandoms I'm definitely offering, and I know two things I'm definitely requesting (Helen DeWitt's Last Samurai and the song Abraham's Daughter). You'd think the requests part would be easy! But I'm not entirely certain how to fill my other one or two slots!
I got the Attolia fic of my dreams and then some (three fics!) a couple years ago, so short of a new Queen's Thief book or 100k of Gen/Irene porn, I'm actually well satisfied on that front. My Community fic itch is feeling sufficiently scratched that I'm fine with just offering and reading what other people inevitably request. And I basically wrote the Lamb fic I always wanted last year, so that one is out too. I'm just not sure what I want enough to request it myself or that I could give decent details on. I know optional details are optional, but knowing that so many people default because their recipient didn't give enough detail or direction, I want to be able to say a little more than "I love this fandom! Please write something in it!"
Here's what I'm considering requesting so far, in addition to the aforementioned Last Samurai (same request as last year) and Abraham's Daughter:
And of course I also have to figure out what else I can offer. I'm really conservative when it comes to offers: I'll only offer for fandoms and characters I already have multiple story ideas/general plot directions for, and which I'm absolutely certain I can produce 1000 words on. So I'd like to offer for Elementary, but with new canon still coming out throughout the Yuletide period, the high likelihood of being matched on it, and the uncertainty I feel about writing for something on the strength of two-three episodes...I don't think I can do it. I think I might just offer for some variety of mythology instead, since I feel pretty comfortable with that this year.
Well, good thing the sign up period is two weeks long! I have time to mull these things over.

- Elementary. I'm mostly only feeling dubious about requesting this because it might turn into a big fandom a la season one of Merlin that one year, and I tend to think requesting something that has a big chance of becoming a huge fandom within the next year goes against the spirit of Yuletide a little. But then I also feel cynical about Elementary's chances of attracting a large fandom considering it has a woman of color as the main character and no two white dudes slash ships. :/
- Life, mostly because MY LOVE FOR DANI REESE IS PURE AND TRUE, but to be quite honest, I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking for in a post-finale fic. I mean, other than an epic 100k+ case fic with a slow emotional intimacy before physical intimacy relationship between Dani and Charlie. Which is obviously kind of unfair to dump on a Yuletide writer. I'm also considering offering this, but since I'm drawing a blank as to the kind of story I could write, it might be best if I don't.
- Melina Marchetta's Chronicles of Lumatere fic, because I think I really want future fic. Also more fic about Froi's dysfunctional but loving family. I kind of just feel like pointing at Quintana of Charyn and going MORE OF THAT, ONLY WITH MORE GARGARIN AND LIRAH. Hmm. This might be workable. Except no one nominated Gargarin? Or in fact any male characters? Ahahaha, that really amuses me.
- OMG HOW COULD I ALMOST FORGET CODENAME VERITY. The problem is that I would basically only want AU fixit fic of the most indulgent variety and I feel like that's kind of a narrow request.
And of course I also have to figure out what else I can offer.
