Aaaand, It's Finals Crunch Time (Again)

May 07, 2009 09:21

Last day of classes! \o/ Finally, now I can just start focusing on studying and writing my papers. I have written out my insane Hermione Granger-style finals study schedule, here's to hoping I can stick with it.

Aaand, book memes in lieu of actual content! Um, content possibly forthcoming later tonight/tomorrow if I have met my study schedule for the day.

This can be a quick one. Don't take too long to think about it. Fifteen books you've read that will always stick with you. First fifteen you can recall in no more than 15 minutes.

1. Harry Potter series, by JK Rowling
2. The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak
3. Invisible Cities, by Italo Calvino
4. Gaudy Night, by Dorothy Sayers
5. Redwall, by Brian Jacques
6. Good Omens, by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett
7. American Gods, by Neil Gaiman
8. To Kill A Mockingbird, by Harper Lee
9. The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini
10. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams
11. A Wrinkle in Time, by Madeleine L'Engle
12. The Swiss Family Robinson by...IDEK, but I read that shit like fifteen times in elementary school, for some unfathomable reason
13. Lamb, the Gospel of Christ's Chilhood Pal Biff, by Christopher Moore
14. House of Leaves, by Mark Z. Danielewski (I wish this wouldn't always stick with me. ._. )
15. 1984, by George Orwell

This list probably makes it really obvious that I'm 20: a good portion of it is YA, and books I was exposed to in school. Also, it is relatively cut down and specified, because my capacious memory means that all manner of books "stick with me," whether I want them to or not. So these are books that stick with me in a meaningful way.

* Grab the book nearest you. Right now.
* Turn to page 56.
* Find the fifth sentence.
* Post that sentence along with these instructions on your journal.
* Don't dig for your favourite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

This is slightly difficult, given that since I am in the middle of two papers, there are a great deal of books close to me. So, random choice!

"In some ways, this interracial romance recalls that of Gahumet and Belakane, as both works tell of a European man's love for an African woman," from Todd Kontje's German Orientalisms.
