Workin' like a madman

It's nice that christmas has come and gone, because now when I'm able to crochet I can work on stuff that actually interests me. I'm almost done with a really cool newsies cap (I just have to go out and buy some plastic canvas for the brim), and I have a shawl that I hate that I have to finish just so I can say that I did it (was trying out a pattern in a magazine).

My spinning wheel is great! I'm definitely going to have to get it finished soon and probably stained, though, because I already got oil on it so I'm going to need to cover that up. I've made 1 hank of single play yarn just to play around and my first plyed yarn (with my own dyed roving!) this morning.

I got up this evening and my hands are soooooo swollen, but I think that that's because of the crocheting I did last night and not necessarily the spinning. And this definitely put less stress on my wrists than the drop spindle did. I'm having lots of fun getting to know how the hell to use this thing. I just hate having to stop to move the flyer hook. Why can't the stupid thing move the yarn by itself?

Well, spinning is probably not such a good idea tonight with my hands, so I guess it's persona 4 time. Peace out.
