COLLEGE

Had my first class on Saturday - English 111 (Effective Writing).  I had to buy 5 (!!) books, only one of which is a novel.  The professor is quite nice and there's only a dozen or so people in my class, so there's a lot of in-class discussion and activity without the hum drum lecture.  We also get a pretty lengthy break, so I'll make sure to bring something to drink and snack on next time.

I'm trying really hard not to fall into old habits (procrastination, general unpreparedness, not doing any homework).  If I want to have a snowball's chance in hell of becoming a teacher, I need to make some new habits.  Instead of wearing myself out on the homework -- especially the lengthy reading assignments -- I do a little bit at a time each day so I get some breaks and come back to the material with a fresh perspective and a renewed attention span.  I have until the 23rd to get it all done, so I don't imagine I'll encounter any difficulty.  I have large reading assignments from two of my texts and I have to write a five page paper (a fable!  Whee for creative writing opportunities!).

My math class starts on Wednesday, and that will be a little harder for me to get into and schedule out my homework for.  It was never my favorite subject because I have such a hard time understanding how equations work.  We'll see how it goes.

In other news - TWO WEEKS until Kayla and Darsow come home!  I can barely contain my joy.  I'll be supremely happy to have them home safe.

school, things that make me die a little inside, rant
