Yamashita Tomohisa Solo Concert - Super Good Super Bad 5/7

May 08, 2011 00:01

Yay! It's concert time again!

I had a pretty good seat tonight. It was even with center stage. The only problem was that it was extremely humid inside. Even Yamapi couldn't help commenting about it. This year, he really seems much more comfortable as a solo artist. (He seemed so shy last time!)

Before the concert started, they showed the opening ceremony for Marching J with Higashiyama and Yamapi's comments. Over center stage, there was a hanging star that began to rise up at the start. There was an English intro that completely reminded me of what Sho says after "Circus" in Arashi's Scene concert, like "guiding you to an unseen world" and "It's show time."

Yamashita came out at center stage in a glittery long red jacket holding two red plastic balls up to his eyes that had "山" and "P" on them. He threw them out to the crowd and performed "Daite Senorita", "Fever and Future", and then "Seishun Amigo".

He ducked off stage to change and the screens showed dark clouds with lightning and a dragon's roar. The english intro for "Super Bad" led into "Tokyo Sinfonietta", which is one of my favorites. "Mola" and "One in a Million" followed, then Yamapi shouted his introduction of, "Are you ready? Say ho!" We did. "Say ho ho!" We did again. "Say ho ho ho!" That one was kind of funny.

"Yours Baby" was a special arrangement for the tour. I completely fell in love with it. The remix included two short guitar solos, and my favorite part when the music pauses, fireworks shoot out, then Yamapi says, "It's yours, baby". Next, he plays around with the sound using a pair of headphones, letting the music play on one side of the stage, then the other. He ends it all singing, "I'm yours, baby". Awesome.

He went over to a white sofa set up on the left side of the stage, took off his jacket and put on a white one. After quickly wiping his sweaty face with a towel, he carefully hung up the headphones on a stand on a table in front of him. "Gomen ne" began with "Headphone kara ima nagareteru first song" as he was looking at them. >_<  Cheesy, but cute.

The next song was a bit of a surprise to me since it was a new one. My best guess at a title would be "My Jewelry". I've been told the title is actually "Adamas". The lyrics that I could catch were, "My girl I'm feeling you, baby," "I know that you love me," "I don't know what to do," "会いたい時は 目を閉じて (Aitai toki wa Me wo tojite) Like a picture in the memory My jewelry (you're calling me), "So beautiful XTC". All the English was great, especially when "DNA" got thrown in there. ^_^;

Yamashita went up on to a raised platform for "My Dear". He shouted at us to "show me the power of Tokyo!" Then, "Let's forget all the bad stuff!" going into "Dance Jam" and "Love Song".

MC - "Thank you. I'm Yamashita Tomohisa. I'm very happy you all came. I'm probably the happiest person in the world!" He talked a little about the release of his new album and how the Asian Tour was going on. He'd been to many countries and now to Yoyogi. "The tour is in it's second half... Wait, let me say that again. It's in the final part... "Second half"? Ah, whatever, "final part"'s fine." =^_^=

A.B.C.-Z. introductions were next. Fumito Kawai wanted to show us his specialty "monomane" (impression) and Yamapi laughed that it would be okay to goof around a little. Kawai said he would do "Matsujun". Yamashita replied, "Jun-kun, ne? So what are we supposed to be looking for?" Kawai answered, "Him when he's excited. I'd like to do 'Love So Sweet'." I laughed because I'd definitely seen something like that before from Jun. "Can I do one more? But you may not get it. It's Kimura Takuya from SMAP x SMAP when he was dancing with one of the artists. And again, when he got excited. It's his 'free dance'." That one was hilarious. It was pretty much Michael Jackson-ish.

Up next was Shota Totsuta. He gave a little bow and said, "That's it." We laughed at that. He gave a quick advertisement for A.B.C.-Z. and stepped back. Koichi Goseki came forward. "You know, I really like dance. So I'm glad we got the chance to do the back dancing for this concert. We're even thinking about ways to use some of the ideas in our own dances." We were a little surprised to learn that Yamapi had known Goseki for over 10 years and even been over to his house when they were younger.

Ryousuke Hashimoto said, "Yeah, back dancing for Yamapi feels great." One of the other members blinked at Hashimoto and asked, "Why were you looking at me when you said that?" Yamapi was standing next to him and said, "Well, I was kinda in there." ^_^ The talk turned to Taiwanese food and what he'd liked. "Shumai, char siu... xiao long bao!" He made a funny voice when he said the last one.

Ryoichi Tsukada also wanted to do a monomane, but this one was of Jackie-chan. The setting was when Jackie had ignored the advice from his co-workers and had gone to a dangerous place, which exploded, and he was running away. It was a really amusing run that ended with him saying, "I'm Jackie-chan!"

The next section was the "question corner". The audience was allowed to ask anything they wanted. First was a girl who asked, "What kind of type do you like?" Yamapi kinda laughed at the question since it was the first one. "Well, age doesn't bother me. I like people who are nice and someone who wouldn't get mad at me." He asked how old she was (11) and her name (Kiyori), which he yelled out afterwards. Xiao long bao-sensei found the next person. "Who is your favorite person in NEWS?" He snickered, "What? Like a ranking? Then do you mind if I say my number one and the last place person? Number one is Ryo. The last place is Shige. But I love everyone!" Everyone "Oh~!"ed when he announced the members and laughed.

The next woman hadn't really thought of a question yet when she got picked, so she asked, "What did you eat today?" Yamapi answered her anyway. The following kid (Tsubasa, 8) was adorable with, "Will you be my friend?" Yamashita said he would and shook his hand, telling him to do his best. I missed the next question, but it had to do with his school years. He'd said that he probably stood out though.

A.B.C.-Z. left the stage after Yamapi promised to use the dasa-kakkoi (lame/cool) move Kawai had come up with. (It was waving his hand around in a circle in the air really fast.) Yamapi still had a little time, so he asked for another question, but stopped when he spotted a Nishikido fan in the crowd. "Why do you have that here? Camera-man, zoom in on that! Okay, how about that sparkly woman." I think she asked if he had a preference between Korean and Japanese women, but he didn't. The last one wanted to know if he hated cleaning. "Uh, I don't really do it. I guess I can do it. If not, I'll get a housekeeper." Then he threw his towel to her. Lastly, he mentioned the charity event and fund-raising to all of us.

To get us all pumped up again, he wanted us to do some shouting. He yelled, "Yama" and us, "P". A.B.C.-Z. came out for a transition. The stage set up was interesting. They used drumsticks to beat on a few ladders and trash cans, then pulled out swords and did some play fighting. It looked quite nice. Yamapi came out in a gold outfit with an oni (demon) mask on, singing "Tomo". They had fun with the lasers and with the fire effects. He took off the gold top and switched it with a blue jacket for "Dekiai Robot" and "Tsumi to Batsu". Yamashita had to do the stupid wave. ^_^  "World is yours" was followed by "Hadakanbou", which we got to yell a lot in. "Crazy you" was before the band introductions, then the "Johnnys Jr. Corner". It was strange to hear Arashi's "Monster" sung with rather high pitched voices. "Vanilla" and "Star Seeker" were in there too.

"Friday Night" was a simple song with lasers and Yamapi in a chair, tapping his foot to the beat, but looking hot while doing it. "Blood Diamond" had some great dance moves. For "One Girl", it should the audience on the screens behind him. "Touch You" was around center stage and he actually went around on a small cart to shake some people's hands. The concert came to a close with "Party Don't Stop", a fitting song since the encores were next.

The first encore, Yamapi came out on a different cart that ran along the edge of the second floor, so he could be closer to the fans. "Loveless" was on the north side and "Ao" on the south side (mine).

Yamapi yelled "Thank you for coming tonight" in English, "Be careful going home!" in Japanese, and "I love you!" in English. He quickly recapped that Marching J was still going on and said good-bye.

The second encore started after many of the girls had shouted his name for about a minute. He was wearing the red shirt for the tour. "Thank you for calling me. Today was really a lot of fun." He waved and said lightly, "Okay, see you." Yamapi only made it a step before we all yelled, "Eh?!" He turned back around, saying, "What?" all innocent like. He had to play with us some more and tried it again. "Really, thank you. Bye!" We all "Eh?!"ed again. Finally, he relented. "Okay, one more song." He did "One in a Million" and almost everyone got involved in it. As far as I know, the concert ended at 8:15, but the girls were still yelling in hopes that he might come out one last time when I left.

It was a very satisfying experience and I can't wait to repeat it again tomorrow. =^_^=

Sorry it's sideways -_-;
