Who's got the Blues?

I'm sitting here pondering where it all went wrong for the conservatives.  They manged to use the powers of darkness to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in the last election when no one could believe that Tony Blair could actually win again.  They decided to regroup and promote their own Tony lite to the fore, a nice man, a young man, a man to appeal to the softer side of the country.

The world and his dog liked the new Tories, they admired the cut of "call me Dave" jib.  He had the world at his feet, up against an increasingly disliked Labour party, who's leader clung on for dear life right until passing on the bowed and tatty mantle on to his sloppy second.

I find it hard to remember the time when Dave and his blue boys were 10, 20 points ahead in the polls, clammering for the big fight and swaggering around the house like they already owned it.  The didn't say much, didn't have to, Labour have been in too long, the rot has set in, like Major before him Brown was always going to be an also ran, with too much expectation and a house of cards falling round his ears.

We flash forward to today and it's even stevens.  Nobody could have forseen the LibDems sneaking up the inside, although it's not suprising.  What noone could have predicted was how much of a damp squib the Tories have been.  How could this be, was it all facade and no substance?  I can't personally imagine voting for the tories any time in the future, but i would like to see a change.  The current fight is just a Meh.
As things stand we will have a hung parliament, possibly with a slight Labour lead.  It could all change, but i think a lesson should be learned, people actually vote for and respect substance and maybe the Tories should have ignored the temptation to go for Blair Light and should have finally given Ken Clarke his chance..........
