a marigold meme
I was tagged ages ago by simtasia to participate in a meme! I'm supposed to post 10 things about one of my characters (she picked Marigold) and then tag 5 other people.
So, in case you can't wait the indefinite amount of time until I actually post her story, here are ...
1. She and her baby brother (Dandelion) were kidnapped by aliens when she was a girl. They were raised in a secret home with no outside contact from anyone - she didn't go to school and had no friends save Quinton, the alien boy that was there to be her companion.
2. Their alien caretakers - Simon and Quinton - called her "Mari" and the baby "Dan." By the time she became an adult the name "Marigold" was distant, almost forgotten past. Aloe was the first person in 20 years to call her Marigold, and it sounded strange.
3. In the first few days at the secret home, she only smiled once. And that was when she was playing fetch with one of the dogs. The aliens almost considered their research and experiment a failure, but happily (for them) Quinton's persistance and Simon's curiosity eventually paid off and she became friendly with both of them.
4. Despite not having gone to school since she was as child, Marigold is very smart. Simon worked with her individually, teaching her all sorts of subjects and content that is not covered in regular sim schools.
5. Marigold did not know that the baby at the house was her brother. Dandelion was born while she was at school, and she never made it home that day. It wasn't until he was a toddler that she became suspicious. Quinton finally admitted the truth to her, but made her promise not to tell Simon that he'd told.
6. Her teen years were a roller coaster of emotions - she was attracted to Quinton, but then he'd tell some off color joke and her opinion of him would be shattered. She's the sort who would lose friends over a dirty joke.
7. After having grown up in a home where everything she could want or dream of was magically provided, Marigold tends to be a tad entitled. She thinks she deserves the best and no less. If she wants it, she will get it!!
8. Despite what it may look like, Marigold *did* ask about her family - several times in fact. Quinton always defered to Simon, and Simon was always dismissive. It wasn't until Dandelion started asking too, that their persistence paid off with the offer to send a letter.
9. Secretly Marigold longs for the family that was taken away from her. She never knew how to mend the relationships with her older brothers - so much time had passed and things were so different now. Her relations with Aloe and Hedgehog (not to mention the rest of their families) are uncomfortable and awkward. She hates that, but won't admit it and instead simply appears aloof.
10. She and Quinton never planned to have children -- they were simply having fun and enjoying eachother. They consider Rémy a delightful surprise, but not something they're looking to repeat!
I'm not going to officially tag anyone, but I'd love to hear more about pixelcurious's Baldur, simtasia's Hardwin Haskel, or gheez's Wensleydale if any of ya'll are so inclined :)
