Viking 3-1, a VDSC

Jun 24, 2010 21:34

This one's a doozy, grab yourself a glass of lemonade (or cup of tea) and get comfortable!! Ready? Here we go!

The main cast:
Dad: aka Petter Viking, an elder - very outgoing and active, serious. (Popularity/Knowledge)
Mom: aka Prudence Viking, by bondchick_nett, an almost elder - kind and fairly active, but very shy. (/Knowledge/Pleasure)
Hedgehog: newly minted adult - outgoing, active, and playful, not always kind. (Romance/Popularity)
Aloe: teen - generally kind, serious, and very shy. (Pleasure/family)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hedgehog: My Birthday - That was a great night. I felt fantastic and I looked fantastic.
So I called up that old lady again and asked her for another date. She found me this beautiful girl with a mohawk. I knew she was the one and that she would not be able to resist the hotness that is me!! I told her my best jokes, I used all my good lines.
[faustie, by bondchick_nett]
We quickly became friends, she even likes to play pinball.
And when I moved things to the next level?
She LOVED it!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Aloe: I hated all the red in the kitchen. It reminded me sad times. Dad said he agreed, and he and Mattias finally found enough paint to cover it all up. It's better, just ... well let's just say it doesn't really solve the problem.

Mattias helped Dad get a hold of enough wallpaper and paint to repaint his and mom's bedroom too. It looks strange, but at least it's not red anymore. Red is the color of Marigold and Dandelion leaving. I hate red.

Hedgehog has this girl over every day. He hardly talks to me anymore.

Faustie, that's her name. He's even moved out of our bedroom. He repainted the old upstairs bedroom and says he's getting ready to ask her to move in with us.

Finally! Finally I've done well enough in school to bring home an A+ report card!

I have to do this report at school about Vegetarianism. I've been reading about it online - why people do it, what the health benefits are - but then part of my report calls for personal responses and experiences! I don't know any vegetarians or even anyone that has tried to be, so Mom and Dad agreed that we would try it as a family for a week. Then they could give me personal opinions for my report.

But they had a hard time following through with it.

Fish are Friends, not Food:
your sims have all become vegetarians! They may all only eat vegetarian meals (milk is allowed) for the week.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hedgehog: I had invited Faustie over again today when I noticed that Hedgehog also had a girl over. His previous attempts with girls hadn't gone well, I decided to step up my game so he could watch and imitate me.
But then he left, so I don't know if it went well or not. Maybe I can give him some pointers when he's a little older.
[Kelsey, by upendoaushi]
Today was the day I asked Faustie if she wanted to move in and live with us. Of course she said yes. She was telling me more about herself while we were relaxing upstairs, when I noticed that the old TV in the room was broken.
It was spitting smoke everywhere and I couldn't turn it off, so I tried to fix it.
Let's just say that it was not one of my better moments.
The fire was truly out of hand - but all of a sudden Aloe was there - he must have heard us screaming.
Somehow we all survived what had become a very big fire. The fire expert Dad had called said that none of us should have survived, least of all me.
Those hours after The Fire I Should Not Have Survived were not good. I'd like to forget those entirely.
We threw out that accursed TV.
Aloe had another girl over. And it looked like he's figuring things out!! 'Just have fun!' is what I told him this morning.
[Bryn, by jesstheex]
Faustie and I sure are!
She gets along with the family too, she eats dinner with us and tells us these massively crazy stories.
I can't believe I didn't ask her to move in sooner, having her around is the BEST!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Aloe: I decided since Hedgehog moved out of the bedroom I ought to decorate it how I like. I got some paint to cover up all the red, and Mom and Dad helped me move the baby stuff out. They even helped me find a new bed. We had to move the bunkbeds in order for it to fit, but it looks great. The only problem was it was kind of boring. I went digging around the yard to see if I could find any treasures.

I did! Yard treasures plus a few things I found at the dump, and the room looked brand new. Well, part of it did. I didn't have enough paint to cover up the outer space wall paper.

Speaking of paint and paper - I've got this great idea for a small painting. I should get to work on it!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hedgehog: What happened?? Where is Faustie? HOW DID I MISS IT?! GAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We were all enjoying the morning desert sun, when HUGE ROCKS fell in front of our house! Out of nowhere! Dad has always said that this is a strange desert, but this is just ridiculous. How in the world are we supposed to get in our house?
I Forgot My Keys!
Your sims are locked out of their own house for a week while the entire city's locksmiths are on strike. You're allowed to purchase two tents maximum in addition to anything else you may have outside the house already, but nothing else. You're allowed to keep your infants/toddlers 'in the shed' with one fridge to avoid having them taken by the social worker - no other sim may eat from the fridge, however.
We decided to enjoy the outdoor activities that we could while we figured out what to do.
At least Aloe's vegetarian experiment was over, so we could eat the fish from our pond again. We wouldn't starve while we waited to get back in our house!
Though it did get tiresome after several hours. And we really needed to use the bathroom!
In the afternoon we trekked across the sand to the new community pool, and I had drinks with some of the others gathered there.
[Olaf, by pinkposeysims]
The pool was refreshingly cool after being outside all day.
Being summertime, this new pool was really the place to be! But there was this one girl who stood out from the crowd.
I turned up the charm.
(Mom kept dropping obvious "hints" that I ignored.)
And it turned out rather well, I think.
And Mom was told me she was glad to see me so happy. Yeah. I know what she's really after.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Aloe: It was going to be several days, maybe a week before the equipment to remove the rocks would be able to get to our house. At least that's what Dad shared from his conversation with Mattias. Probably because there aren't many roads out here, just the one that goes from our house to where the pool and post office and dump are.

It's really hot.

I wish we could stay at the pool all day.

At least it's a little cooler at night. Or maybe I just woke up because I was so hungry. I caught some fish for our dinner.

I couldn't wait to eat, I tried one of the fruits that grow out front. YUM!

It was a really great night at the pool - our fish tasted fantastic.

I'm exhaused. I think I'll sleep well tonight.

I tried meditation today. Dad said it'd be a better way to cope with the heat ... and the inability to get into our own house.

Hedgehog decided passing out on the sidewalk was a better option.

And in the middle of all that medititation (or maybe because of it?) I grew up. I'm now a full-fledged adult.

I spent the rest of the evening meditating next to Hedgehog, so I could help him orient once he woke up.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hedgehog: What an awful day. It was so hot I passed out. My whole body aches. But I ate some delicous fish (made by yours truly!)
and we all went swimming.
So I feel better now.
After yesterday's episode, I was determined not to let the heat overwhelm me.
Aloe and I took a mid-day trip to the pool to cool off.
[Remy, by swampyclouds]
And when we got back, I took a relaxing bath in that weird outdoor bathtub Dad had built a few weeks ago. You know, I thought it was ridiculous at the time, but it has been SO USEFUL this week. I think we need an outdoor toilet too!
I even played fetch with this adorable little dog that came by. His eyes are a lot like mine -- deep black.
I think he and I could be the best of friends.
Aloe was strangely happy to be back at the pool that night - no idea why. Maybe the hotdog fumes were getting to him.
Day two of attempting not to pass out!!! I think I was rather successful today too. Aloe had recommended this fruit. It's really satisfying and cools you down.
I like to stay cool.
Dad actually took a break from meditating today to go on a hike. I don't know where he found a whole swarm of bees in this desert, but they chased him all over the yard for an hour! I gotta remember not to go on a hike with him!
I'd rather just monkey around at home anyways.
But, like I said. Today was another success!! I kept my cool and had some fun. I just hope those big trucks come soon, I can't do this forever. I really want to get inside so I can call the number Mina left for me, I haven't seen her in a while. And I haven't had a blind date in ages!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Aloe: Hedgehog was really excited to see Mina at the pool again tonight.
[Mina, by simtopi]

It was getting busy, everywhere people chatting, drinking, splashing, and having a good time in their own little groups. I thought I'd just float there by myself for the evening, like I have so many other evenings when no one wanted to hang out with me. Until I met Ula. She was different. We talked for a long time, and I shared some of the fish we had cooked up.
[Ula, by simnels]

I couldn't help but be concerned for her when this very uncool dude grabbed her and got in her face. She said she was alright - but still! No one talks to my friends that way!

It was such a great evening until we got home and Hedgehog just totally passed out. How embarassing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hedgehog: FINALLY! The rocks were taken away and we could get back inside.
I left the cleaning up to everyone else. I had things to do! I called up for a blind date.
Her name was Nessa.
[Nessa Nettle - originally Space Pirate - by dothesmustle]
She's beautiful and we had a good time
I was surprised though, what I really wanted was Mina.
We had an interesting family conversation the other day. Dad said he wanted to tell us about love. He said (and I quote!), "You'll know when you've found the right one. She'll be all you can think about. You look out the window and all you see is her. All you can imagine in your future is with her. That's love."
He's right ... to a point.
I know there are other girls in my future (maybe that beautiful Nessa?) But right now there is only Mina. I asked her to move-in with us.
[Mina again! - by simtopi]
And already the next morning she was talking about babies!! Girls can be strange like that. But I don't really mind babies so long as I can have lots of lovin'!
I think this little dog must love me too! He came back, and now that we can get in the house I can feed him properly. I remember this story Dad tells about how Grandma came to live here and her first friend was a dog named Bruce. He always says "Every good Viking needs a good dog by his side." And then he gets all sad and tells the story of how he lost his dog. Well he didn't name his dog Bruce!! I've decided to call my dog Bruce Bailey (two names are better than one, right?) - BB for short.
Bruce, Bruce, Bruce, Bruce & Bruce:
All sims born on the lot, and all new pets - born or adopted etc - will be named Bruce.
I just know everyone is going to love him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Aloe: I invited Ula over tonight. I had a surprise for her.
[and Ula! - by simnels]

We danced. I covered her with kisses.

(We almost got distracted by Mina's crazy dancing.)

But then I did it.

I asked her to marry me - and she said yes!

We're getting married today!!

Mom died tonight.

Dad is lost without her.

Ula and I both want kids. We've talked about it.

But I think they're coming a little sooner than we expected! I just keep thinking of Dandelion ... I wonder if Dad is happy or sad about these babies coming. His first grandbabies. The first babies in this house since Dandelion. I don't know if I wish Mom was here for this or not.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hedgehog: I spend as much time with Mina as I can.
I know she's pregnant, but that just means we can get some real lovin' in.
Besides, I'm a much better cook. All she can make is Mac&Cheese. I've got to give her some cooking lessons!
Mina had a baby girl last night!!! We named her Bruce Cloudfreak.
Seemed appropriate - she was born in the middle of a thunderstorm.
And it was still raining this morning.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Aloe: Ula is still beatiful. I try to tell her every day.

And I'm getting good practice with Hedgehog and Mina's new baby - Bruce Cloudfreak.

I think we're totally ready for this!

Even Dad doesn't seem to mind the baby. In fact, he spends a lot of time with her. I think she makes him feel better after losing so much. A tiny, innocent piece of the future, you know?

__________________

I could hear Ula calling me from across the house.

(Hedgehog must have too, because he came running in just behind me.)

It's a boy! We named him Bruce Sugarbreeze. I don't think I could be happier.

Notes:
-Yes, we're double heir-ing - there was NO WAY I was picking (or letting anyone else pick) between Aloe and Hedghog.
-Confession! I built the pool lot after rolling the "locked out" challenge. Shame on me, I know. If I hadn't they would have all died because there were no community lots with food (or potties).
-Another Confession! I know it may not be *exactly* within the rules to give all the Bruces different second names, but I knew from the get-go that I was going to have multiple, and well, I had to save my sanity somehow.

-Gen 3 part spammity-spam has been posted! Check it out for some crazy shots that didn't make it into this update XD

Lots of pixel_trade action this time::
Thanks to: bondchick_nett, simtopi, simnels, hidden_kitten, upendoaushi, jesstheex, dothesmustle, swampyclouds, and pinkposeysims for their marvelous sims!

Past updates are in the archive!
